37 people hurt ....9 are college wrestlers. good news here though: they are all okay and miller says thankfully no one from any iowa will forget.. thousands of tourists walk this strip when stopping in las vegas. including this man jim miller, former wartburg wrestling coach and hall of famer...in seen vegas like this. there were a number of blocks on the strip that were totally and it was obviously a crime scene. police say this woman allegedly barreled through crowds of people intentionally.killing one person and injuring dozens- including 9 college wrestlers. "it was a shock for everyone to hear that because everyone knew the news but just didn't realize that we had people involved in the tournament that were some of the victims of that incident...we had a moment of silence at the begining and we talked a little bit about it but pretty scary deal." 4 iowa college teams are there- including dubuque university and wartburg college. no iowa wrestlers were hurt- but it was something that hit the competition hard. "you just realize it could happen to anybody at any time

he was competing in the 220-pound weight division "i really don't know what happened. it looked like things were going ok and then all of a out," a go fund me page is set up to help austin's family and has already raised more than 26- thousand dollars. a woman is found dead in a mobile home - after a fire destroys her home. it happened in the 2300 block of kelly street sw in cedar rapids just after 7 last night. kwwl's kristin rogers was on scene this morning. she spoke with a cedar rapids public information officer on the phone, kristin what did they say? they said the woman was unidentifiable when she was found. an autopsy is scheduled for later this week to find out who

flames wiped out the siding on this mobile home both walls and ceilings are now gone a woman's body was found inside amoung the destuction a neighbor believes it was the body of the woman who lived in home, because she says the woman lived alone. the neighbor tells us they had become friends. (cg: lori huston/ neighbor) "i just can't believe she's gone, i don't know, the summers are going to be different without her." all of this happened just feet from neighboring homes. the woman we spoke to said ash was hitting her home, causing her siding to melt. the damage stopped when firemen arrived and sprayed her home down. i have been trying to make since of it all, we still have a lot of unanswered questions as the investigation continues. we've got you covered live in cedar rapids, kristin rogers...kwwl news.

waiting on the autopsy to come back we are also waiting to hear the cause of the fire. both the medical examiner's office and the fire department are investigating. and crews responded to a suspicious fire on riehl street in waterloo this morning. firemen say the fire was out in five minutes..... one person was at the house at the time of the fire.... there is minimal damage to the home. no injuries are reported. police are looking for a woman who they believe stole clothes from kohls. cedar falls police say the thefts took place on december 12 at the kohls on university avenue. the woman pictured here left in a black oldsmobile. if you know the woman, contact cedar falls police. a woman is injured after her car rolls into a ditch. it happened shortly after ten this morning on highway twenty in dubuque. officials say fourty-two year old, stacy thill of fort wayne, indiana was driving east bound -- lost control of the dodge pickup...when

she tried to get it back on...but the shoe was stuck under the pedal. thill then went off the road...and the truck rolled over. she was treated for minor injuries at mercy hospital. decision 2016... one republican senator is ending his run for president. south carolina senator lindsey graham released a video today announcing his campaign's suspension. the senator never gained traction as a candidate despite his national security experience. in the video, graham emphasized his support for complete immigration reform and an aggressive foreign policy. and fellow republican candidate mike huckabee is in swisher iowa for a faith and freedom house party. if you remember, swisher is the town where the mayor issued a proclamation saying they continuing to welcome refugees to their town even after branstad didn't want to allow any more in. huckabee believes the u-s should close their borders to syrian refugees. after being under construction for nearly a year, the crst building frame is finally complete.

went up today. the 11 story tall building will change the cedar rapids skyline. after being signed by those involved with the project, an american flag and christmas tree went up on top of the beam to complete the structure that cost 37 million dollars. sixth graders finding a new appreciation for veterans - today. that's thanks to one world war two vets first hand account. kwwl's jessica hartman joined the sixth graders at st. paul's lutheran school in waverly to hear from one local world war 2 veteran. its one thing to read about a war in a history book - - it's another to hear it from someone ((nat -talking)) gordon foster grew up just outside of waverly and was drafter to the army in 1942. he was a tank commander under general patton - came over to our divison and says 'i want patton. he got in our tank and road with us for 20 minutes, showed us what he wanted to do." following patton's instructions fosters's tank and three others took a german city

the way through the season we're 9-1 its a process we cant be in peaks and valley's over one game thats just my philosophy thats always been my phliosophy." now the iowa hawkeyes are also started to recieve a few votes reciving five this week. the hawkeyes 8-3 defeated drake on saturday 70-64. iowa freshman nicolas bear was annouced big ten freshman of the week.. baer capped this week with a 13 points, 7 boards and 6 blocks against drake . david johnson continues to show why alot of people thought the cardnials got a steal when they drafted him in the third round. johnson tore the eagels up last night for 187 and three touchdowns. that now gives him 12 touchdowns on the year setting a cardinals rookie record. johnson has proved himself a triple threat this year he has 7 rushing touchdowns, 4 recieving and one kick return agasint the bears.. the cardinals improved to 12-2 three full games ahead of the seahawks in the west.

reciever odell beckham jr has been suspended for one game for his actions in sundays game against the panthers. beckham was flagged three times and grappled with panthers corner back josh norman all day. beckman normally known for his dazzling one handed catches instead was throwing punches.

in waterloo got a special treat... they rode in a limo to chuck-e- cheese. the 12 students from lou henry elementary took part in a nationwide competition sponsored by the foundation... no excuses.... they created a video about why being deaf and hard of hearing was no excuse.... their video focused on what "i hope it helps people that have hearing loss do great things when they grow up and dont let anything stop them.
