explain what you need to know. and -- a devastating storm rips through parts of the united states. how you might be affected. plus -- we continue road to the rose bowl coverage -- live from california. what's in store for the hawkeyes at this hour. thanks for joining us tonight. i'm macleod hageman. we are tracking winter weather headed to the area. let's check in with storm track seven meteorologist kyle kiel for your first forecast. kyle? for your complete weather stormtrack 7 weather team: a winter storm warning will go into effect across the entire kwwl viewing area monday morning. snow, sleet, freezing increasing clouds across the areas, and the wind will pick up out of the north from 10 to 20 to track into the southern areas, such as sigourney, will be making its way north areas along highway 20. this means the monday morning commute will likely be tricky. by mid- morning, all of eastern iowa to see ice accumulation from freezing rain will be from highway 30 and points to the south, where a

(nats) across town people flooded hyvee, (cg: kristin rogers) "with news of a winter storm coming prepping for the storm) "just a few items that i needed so i wouldn't have to go out if expect snow, sleet, freezing rain and wind. they're potenially messy conditions many are not ready to welcome (cg: mari nibeck/ prepping for the storm) "if it's just snow, we can handle that, if it's ice, you know safety issues." i spoke with the iowa state patrol today, they said people should prepare

live broadcast from california. a local woman isn't letting her life-threatening disease hold her back -- and now -- she's sharing her positive attitude with others. kwwl's jessica hartman joins us live in the newsroom -- after meeting the lady in waverly. jessica? after facing the unknown and doctor after doctor saying there was nothing they could do -- rebecca lalk has learned to live life despite her obsticals. playing with her two youngest children -- you can't tell rebecca has been battling this life-threatening disease for 13 years. at this time -- there is no cure for the disease. but thanks to her children -- she is fighting the disease and taken a positive outlook on life. in her new book she hopes to inspire others to do the same. "there were days i didn't want nothing we can do. so my book's not just about the disease. it's about life because everybody has their obsticals. it's just how you make that conscious effort

this weekend. storm track seven's shirley descorbeth visits sundown mountain in dubuque -- where she joins us live. shirley? well, after not being able to open for nearly one month into its season...because of the unseasonably warm temperatures...peop le are finally enjoying the slopes. it's a good crowd today at sundown mountain. families from eastern iowa...came out to spend some of their holiday weekend here -- some tearing up the slopes -- others taking it easy on the chair lift. there are also some who traveled a little further...like from florida and st. louis. these brothers say...it was their christmas wish to come here. "my dad is a big time skier, he's been to vail and he just loves blast." now, at the moment...only about a third of the terrain is open. management hopes to open the rest over the next week. people were having a great time

live from california with more. mark? there's no doubt the hawkeyes earned their way in to this game going 12 and 1 -- and winning the big ten west championship -- it's quite a change from a season ago -- the fans were frustrated -- the team was frustrated -- but as they get set for friday's match- up -- that frustration is no more -- t he hawkeyes continue to go greg davis has been twice before - "any time you talk about the rose bowl, you talk about the grandaddy of them all. we're excited, i think our fans are excited, i know our players the rose bowl - but hit a rut in the last few seasons at iowa - it wasn't just the coach however - after losing to tennessee in the taxslayer bowl - everyone in the hawkeye locker-room knew something had to change - "we got everybody together, culture. we had to get back to are." davis coached texas twice in - after losing to tennessee in "we got everybody together, and we knew we had to change something. we had to change our
