kwwl's brad hanson spending part of the day at the hawweye huddle with thousands of black and gold clad fans. the los angeles convention center today turned into a mecca of sorts for iowa fans. thhawkeye huddle held in easily one of the biggest rooms nats let's go hawks, let's go the eye can see. thousands of iowa fans fill this humongous space, making it look like iowa city on game day. to residents....to clear your fire hydrants! most roads in eastern iowa are now clear, but a lot of the snow from the roads is now packed around hydrrts.. making a potentially dangerous situation for fire fighters if there's an emergency. kwwls olivia mancino talking to fire fighters tonight... she joins us live firefighters in watereroo and cedar falls put this request out every year... most people are required to shovel their sidewalks after a big storm, but hydranns often come as an rescue truck today to see just how bad this problem is. a major snow fall can be stressful for everyone... especially for fire fightets. "right now im in rescue truck 540 looking for firehydrants neighborhoods in cedar falls to look for buried hydrants didn't take long to find multitile hydrants packed in with snow. it took these two taken away from fighting an

"time is critical, fire can grow in matter of minutes, so if w w have to spend a minute finding the hydrant cearing out aaound it it add to the fire growth" theres a few important tips residents should know about clearing these hydrants-- "these guys say its easier to dig out the fire hydrants when the snow is fresh rather than frozen..it makes the job easier for you and easier for them" and when digging out the hyrants -- pay special "we want to make sure these ports are open so our fire hoses can connect to them if they need them" its a small extra step when shoveling sidewalks and driveways... but can make a world of difference in time of emergency. those fire fighters i spent time with say of course if you have trouble shovelininyour hydrant out-- cacal their department and they will happily shovel them out for
