landing camam after it experienced problems with the right engine. they say the plane then diverted to the chattanooga airport out of quote an "abundance of caution."." the plane will now be inspected to figure out what the problem was, but certainly a scary situation i just got off the phone with kevin smith... he travelled to florida for a holiday vacation....and was on his way back to denver. he told me what is was like to be on the plane. swollen rivers and streams are beginning to crest -- so the worst could soon be over -- but as you heard in that story, there's a lot of damage. back here in iowa -- the problem is snow. the mild winter is a thing of the past -- and that means more cars might stall. mechanics say car fires and stalling mainly depend on how well maintained your vehicle is. "if you were ignoring your car long enough that it was blowing that could get hot enough to start a fire, and that'd be right undernfath the car. you wouldn't even notice until your seat was s ot." mechanics say if the hood of your car were to catch fire on the road... keep it closed and get out. to help prevent stalling... mechanics say keep your fuel tank more than quarter full.

in november as prosecutors invtigated whether the teen violaed his parole there's a lot of excitement in the air about new year's eve celebrations -- but security is being increased along with that. that includes a big event for iowans tomorrow -- the rose bowl kim hutcherson has that story. as america prepares to ring in the new year, officials say a threat they also say the threat was uncorroborated and based on a single source. still, with a million people etpected in timesquare thursday night ....authoritiee aren'ttaking any chances. "times square on nw year's eve is going to be one of the safest places in the country because of the huge concentration of police resources" six-thousand officers will be deployed. there will also be helicopters, boat patrols and hundreds of extra mobile cameras and radiation detectors.
