arrived for a team photograph. there were also plenty of hawkeye fans outside the gate taking pictures and offering well wishes to the players and coaches. the photo actually took very little time and you could tell the players were enjoying every moment of this experience. earlier today mark woodley and i drove the tournament of roses parade route down orange grove blvd. in pasadena. there are rows and rows of bleachers set up for parade goers who will pay about 90 dollars

we also had a chance to see some of the amazing floats that you will see tomorrow in the parade here on kwwl. perhaps the biggest event going on today is the hawkeye pep rally on the deck of the battleship uss iowa. that's where we find brad hanson. brad --probably the biggest pep rally ever on the iowa. it's a much different scene today at the uss iowa than it was just two days. hawkeye nation has descended on the ship, easily shattering the record.

thousand black and gold clad fans out here today. the line to get tickets and get on the ship stretches for about a half mile. lots of fans forgoing the line and hanging out on dry land, enjoying yet another beautiful day in southern california. "just to be able to be on a ship like this, surrounded by iowa be amongst family, basically, is quite an event." organizers tell me they originally planned for up to one thousand people here. but of course, word got out, and and of course, no iowa event is complete without beer--and they do have beer here--but only one vendor. that's literally the only complaint i've heard today--otherwise, people absolutely thrilled to be out here today.

that's comng up at ten. one person is in the hospital after colliding with a garbage truck. the collision took place two miles west of west union on highway 18 this morning. fyette county sheriff's department says the garbage truck was backing into a farm drive when a truck driven by wayne white and melinda scribner collided with it. scribner was trapped and the jaws of life were used to cuu her free. th white and scribner and one of the garbage workers were airlifted to the hospital with life threatening injuries. across missouri and illinois -- flooding continues to reach historic levels this evening... hundreds of homes have been damaged and national guard troops have been brought in to help evacuate and protect communities... in some spots -- more than 10 inches of rain have fallen this week... the u-s army is still concerned about 19 levees that are vulnerable with more water poung in... at least 22 people have been killed -- with the most deaths in misisouri -- where a state of emergency is

the latest? that's right the plane arrived here at the eastern iowa airport n cedar rapids just after two o clock this afternoon. this arrival delayed more than six hours for an emergency landing in tennessee. good news, n n injuries to report out of this whole ordeal. allegiant air tells us it happened because of a engine problems. it was certainly not the travel day those on board were pecting. you c cn see emergency vehicles at the scene of the landing here. the plane is being inspected to figure out what the problem was, we do know it happened in the right engine. moments after thhir emergency landing in chatanooga, those on the flight recall what happened "it just sounded like we hit just went out and it sounded like ww hit somethinin just a loud bang um we kind of thought we either hit a bird or the engine went out." one passenger we spoke with said it was calm when they landed in
