ended with a hit and run. kwwl's jessica hartman joins us live with the details. jessica? that's right - - police tell us three individuals were involved in a fight - - that esclated to two being hit by a car. according to one manager at tony's - - the hit and run happened in the ally behind the restraunt and the pavement rolling around and screaming in pain. his friend was trying to get him police arrived. "and i was like dude no. we friend just got hit by a car. his jeans were torn. he had like a bloody elbow. he looked like he just got hit by a car." police and paramedics arrived moments later. the manager says the paramedics put the guy into the ambulance - - he became aggressive towards those around him. coming up - - more details from witnesses about the hit and run. i am working on that for six. we've got you covered...jessica hartman kwwl news.

the hospital. the other person also went to the hospital -- due to injuries from the fight. continuing coverage -- as the mississippi river gains destruction throughout missouri and parts of illinois tonight. water from the winter flood started receding around saint louis -- but the river is still expected to crest in parts of southern missouri, illinois, and even arkansas this weekend. officials say the river rose to nearly 15 feet above flood stage in sant louis county. authorities conrim at least 22 people died -- due to extreme weather in the region. this morning -- more than 40 iowa national guard soldiers left for missouri to provide relief as the state deals with historic flooding. yesterday -- soldiers in cedar rapids prepared tanks and a water purification system to bring. these tanks can provide more than 125 gallons of clean water per minute. a fire gains momentum at a dubai hotel -- more than 12 hours after the blaze sparked in on new

firefighters are on scene -- using cranes to access the fire on the skyscraper. nearly 15 people were injured in the fire -- and one person suffered a heart attack from the smoke -- during the evacuation. the fire started a few hours before a big fireworks show was scheduled to kick off in the downtown area. it is unclear what caused the fire -- which ran up the side of the 63-story building. organizers say the fireworks show still went on as planned. in california -- the university of iowa band makes a grand appearance in the rose parade. with the hawkeye football team taking on stanford in the rose bowl game today -- the school's band performed throughout the nearly five mile route in pasadena -- during the 127th edition of the parade... the band also played the national anthem inside the rose bowl stadium before the game... the game -- by the way -- is going on right now. the hawks are losing by a score of

the first waterloo baby of 20-16 is born this morning -- just after 3-30 -- and her mother says it's a speical day for more than one meet royalte dior johnson. at five pounds five ounces -- 18 and a half inches -- moments after everyone rang in the new year. "i was feeling horrible. i was ready to get it done and over with." montaija says her pregnancy was high-risk -- due to gestational hypertension . but she says -- with the help of amazing nurses at covenant -- royalte was born happy and healthy. "all my tests came back high. so, she ha d to come out. (laughter)" not only is the new year a special time for young royalte to be born -- but she now shares the same birthday as montajia's great grandmother. "it's great. it's kind of special to us." according to mom -- she says she looks forward to brining her new baby girl home to meet her
