on monday counseling was available, and of course the vigil was held monday night. we've got you covered live in solon, kristin rogers...kwwl news. we're told a visitation and funeral are expected to be sometime this weekend. meanwhilil -- tanner's dad made this statement today.... as a boasting parent i can tell you that he was going to do amazing things in this world. in the process, he would have touched the hearts of many and made even more smile and laugh. of course this was an immense tragedy for our family and friends but also for those future lives that will not have the opportunity to know, love, and be touched by tanner. it will be a sloppy mess weather-wise in the next couple days - let's go to storm track seven chief meteorologist mark schnackenberg now who is tracking snow.

of iowa hospitals and clinics. police are still investigating and say the department of human services is assisting. no criminal charges are filed. a visibly moved president obama announces executive actions to curb gun violence. the president wiped away tears as he remembered the young victims of the shooting at sandy hook elementary school... he assured the country, and gun owners, that his actions are -not- intended to take away everyone's guns, or diminish the second amendment. but listed other freedoms, l)ke those of worship and assembly, denied to victims of gun violence. mister obama outlined his actions- starting with comprehensive background checks. reacting to the news of the president's executive order.. including our lawmakers here in iowa. kwwl's lauren moss joins us now with more.. it's interesting amanda b bcause this month is packed with gun shows all over the state- and many people are first time buyers. now, some people agree with the iowans and state senators we talked to today- say tougher gun laws are not the answer. at least six gun shows are scheduled just this month in iowa. hundreds of people..packing a waterloo gym- among the increase in sales - - coming from women..looking to buy their first gun. "it's something i've been encencuated the possibility of it happening in this area." but upcoming gun shows may be affected- president obama addressing the nation, calling for stricter gun laws- but nick gabriel a local retailer says that's not the answer. "if its a criminal act, what they

more background checks and more the road. you are never going to be able to prevent that." and republican state senators echoe that response. joni ernst issued a statement saying "i am opposed to president obama's over-reaching and unilaterl actions; the american people should have a voice in this process instead of the president's top- down approach that side-steps congress and the people we were elected to represent." but on the other side of the aisle- democratic congressman dave loebsack backs president obama's plans saying "as a native iowan, i was raised with an appreciatin for iowa's hunting traditioo and am a strong supporter of our second amendment rights. i believe that improving our background check system can help to address the safety of our communities while also

her event in osage. she also unveiled her plan to help families who have children with autism. a local philanthropist in the cedar valley..betty mccoy has died at the age of 89. you may renember her for her generous donation to the wwnneshiek county sheriff's office, so they could buy another k-9. she died after a long battle with stage four lung cancer. a waterloo man is in the hospital following a rollover crash. 28-year-old john barker was driving on highway 20 east of waterloo this morning when his car rolled. winesses say he lost control, entered the median, and rolled into the oncoming lane. barker was taken to covenant memecal center in waterloo - hehe is expected to recover.

investigation. a facebook page that encouraged and advocated violence againnt waterloo police officers is doww tonight. we first told you about that page last night at ten -- just hours after waterloo police chief dan trelka reached out to kwwl -- after a facebook page popped up that encouraged people to kill waterloo police officers. both chief trelka and waterloo mayor quentin hart denounced that page and those who were associated with it. hours after our story aired -- the page was gone. authorities say criminal charges won't be filed in the stabbing deat of a des moines police say 31-year-old travis williams died december 5 after an altercation with two people inside the home. a prosecutor said monday that the two were acting in sf-defense. police say williams had a gun with him when he broke in. they also say williams knew the two people. and speaking of death in des moines, the number of victims of homicide is up in 2015. des moines police say 21 people were

"we'll either have to suffer the loss, or figure something to do maintaining a biz are already local business owners and i business owners, the city council rejected that nearly tweleve percent hike -- and the city is now considering lower increases. one target is 9-point-5 ...the other nears eleven percent. "and both scenerios include budget cuts...that meanss the city would have to find a way to cut hundreds of thousands of dollars." the city manager says these increases are needed because of rising healthcare costs...but biz owners say they understand that too.
