it's own sending one officer to the hospital. and in waterloo a rollover crash happened off of greenhill road and the exit ramp of 218. police tell us a mom and her daughters were in the car - only one suffereddminor injuries. the accident was caused by an icy patch on the road. kwwl's kristin rooers talked tt drivers in the area today who noticed some slick spots, kristin what can you tell us? multiple people told me they noticed slick spots earlier this morning on their commute to work. the iowa state patrol tells me frost on the road caused multipl accidents throughout the area, keeping them very busysy this morning. although temperatures are warmer and melting can be seen nearly everywhere you look, deceiving frost on the road caused problems hours earlier. two people were seriously ininured in fayette county after an accident

and slick conditions left people injured from accidents in cedar rapids and waterloo. it happened five miles west of marengo on highway 212 this morning. according to the iowa county sheriff's office, 18- year-old bethany clark and her 2- year-old son roran were driving when shlost controll the cc went into the ditch and hit a creek embankment - the car caught on fire killing both of them. an eastern iowa ffily is getting a new home after being struck with tragedy. waterloo firefighters came together today to help build a habitat for humanity home for the family of moe sed. moeoesed went missing in waterloo in october... and his body was found in a river near gilbertville in december his family is grieving the loss of their son. but now they have something to look fororard to.. kwwls olivia mancino is outside of that habitat home right now. olivia this family has been through so much i the past few months the waterloo firefighters worked on this home all day today-- they told me they didn't even know this home was going to moe

until they got here this morning but say it makes the project all inside this three story newly constructed home.... is a picture of a family who has known only loss since the changing of the seasons. "i know they are very appreciative" its been a little more than a month since moe sed's family learned a hunter found their missing son's months. accused of strapping one- year-old brody harrelson in a seat for infants. she allegedly left him in closet for two hours. heres the scene from last june... the daycare is run out of her home according to the criminal complaint, hangartner's daughter was the one who called 9-11 after finding harrelson unresponsive. first reponsds found harrelssn with marks around his neck consistent with being restrained form the car straps and buckles. waterloo police captain mohlis says charging hangartner took so long because of the e ature of the evidence. "once we get that and the reports back, we review those, along wti hthe county attorney office and try to determine a charge and waht time of charge, so that whole process

mohlis couldn't confirm whether hangartner putting harrelson in the car seat and closet was accidental if she is found guilty, she will face up to 50 years in prison. one area home - - being deemed a chronic nuisance to the neighborhood, city, and police department. kwwl's jessica hartman digging into exactly what that means. it takes three calls of complaints that end in citations or arrests within a year to be deemed a chronic nuisance by the city of waterloo. 520 elm street - a home owned by dorothy spates - hit that mark responded to a complaint of disorderly conduct towards the offices. but police chief dan trelka says on that block. april 1st - - reports of shots fired in the 500 block of elm - april 7th - - shots fired at the

and one victim sent to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the neck. august 20th - more shots fired. just a few of the incidents on that block that is concerning to "we are using this liquid foam to fill in bullet holes, so that just in case we have to go again, we can tell what the new holes are. that is discouraging. that is sad." trelka says this is just one of many tools the department is using to fight crime in that neighborhood. coming up- - more on the chronic nuisance ordinance, chief trelka's thoughts, and the letter he recieved from dorothy spates. i am working on that for 10. we've got you covered live in the newsroom. . . jessica hartman kwwl news. we did reach out to mayor hart - -who campaigned on safer streets and neighborhood empowerment - - he declined to comment.

and there's no clear cut leader on the democratic side here in iowa. a new bloomberg des moines register poll released today has hillary clinton topping senator bernie sanders by two points in iowa; however, a quinnipiac poll from earlier this week had bernie on top in our state. a similar situation on the republican front - with conflicting results from quinnipiac and the des moines register with donald trump and senator ted cruz. waterloo educators research better ways to prepare students for life after school -- and they say a new career center will help. after visiting des moines' central campus -- kwwl's macleod hageman joins explains whether their model would work in the cedar valley. mac? educators say it's all about providing students options at a minimal cost -- while improving the with several electives ranging from photography... community, our students, and really the future of this community.'" according to des moines educators -- several hii school students graduate from central campus -- and are classifed as juniors in college without spending money on tuition. speaking of money -- i'll explain how educators hope to pay for the project -- coming up tomorrow. we've got you covered live in the newsroom -- macleod hageman -- to move forward with the project -- by casting their ballots february second. if approved the district would also add air-conditiong systems to east and west waterloo high schools. a project ten years in the making could be close to taking its first big steps forward.

facilities is expected to gain possession of the location sometime this week. the techworks campus will be highlighted by a new hotel, restaurant and conference center. later on down the road, there are plans for a marina to be built right next to the river. the project is said to be a major economic boost for the cedar valley. coming up on kwwl, eastern iowa officers sit down with people to discuss issues involving their city. and - after being fired by the eagles a few weeks ago, chip kelly is already a head coach again.
