the sixth g-o-p debate wrapping up tonight in south carolina ahead of next month's iowa caucus. a new nbc poll released today shows donald trump has more than doubled his lead in the republican race -- garnering 33 percent of the votes. he's followed by senator ted cruz at 20 percent and senator marco rubio at 13 percent. dr. ben carson sits in fourth at 12 percent. cruz also leads trump in a hypothetical head- to-head matchup -- 51 to 43 percent -- according to the poll. let's head out to steve handelsman who is live in north charleston, south carolina with more... trump admitted here in north charleston that he ended his truce with cruz because the texas senator is doing better in the polls and finally cruz struck back. they came to debate

520 elm street - a home owned by dorothy spates - hit that mark on december 15th when officers responded to a complaint of disorderly conduct that ended in threats made towards the officers. but police chief dan trelka says its all part of a bigger picture on that block. april 1st - - reports of shots fired in the 500 block of april 7th - - shots fired at the home and sending one person to the shots fired. just three of 48 reports of some kind of police activity needed in the 500 block of elm. "we are using this liquid foam to fill in bullet holes, so that that is sad. and they are victims. i mean, when your house gets shot up, you are a victim, but." but it hasn't been just once - trelka says it's been repeatedly.

brody in the car seat -- and that the strap slipped up against his neck. police are still not sure if it was an accident or not. a mother and her two-year-old son are killed following a crash in iowa county. it happened on highway 212 about five miles west of marengo. authorities say 18-year-old bethany clark lost control on the frost covered road -- went into the ditch and hit a creek embankment. the car caught fire following the crash -- killing both clark and her son. a man convicted of sexual abuse is now facing more charges in separate incidents with two children. authorities say jody anderson, of boone county, sexually abused an 11-year-old and 13- year-old between 2011 and 2012. he is charged with second and third degree sexual abuse. anderson pleaded guilty to a third degree sexual abuse charge in winnebago county last year -- for which he is currently serving

authorities identify human remains found in a burned home in sac county. the fire happening in the 3200 block of 390th st. last week. the victim is identified as 48- year-old daniel mielk. he died of smoke inhalation and thermal injuries. foul play is not suspected, however the cause of the fire remains under investigation. people who work at the linn country courthouse likely haven't had a pleasant past few days. after pipes burst inside the courthouse earlier this week... the bulding's heating system went down. on wednesday... linn county emergency management sent a heating generator trailer to help warm up the courthouse while workers repair the building. as of tonight... it's still operating on site. a federal court this week rules it is considered free speech to wear military medals you didn't earn. the court overturning the conviction of a marine who

purple heart he didn't earn, trying to boost his credibility. many local veterans not happy with the news. kwwl's brad hanson joins us live now--and brad, you talked to quite a few unhappy veterans today. i did, and the message from them was pretty consistent--if you didn't earn it, don't wear it. it's a conversation that comes up often at the veteran's freedom center in dubuque. and one that often invokes disgust--people wearing military medals they haven't earned. police still have no leads after an iowa state university student was killed in a hit-and-run. the victim was freshman -- emmalee jacobs. officers say they've gotten dozens of tips but authorities are left with little information. they're hoping new leads come during the new semester -- which began this week.
