marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. it happened in tripola -- one in the 200 block of main street and the other in the 700 block of third street south west. one woman and two men were taken into custody. denver police, state troopers, bremer county sheriff's deeuties and a chickasawwcaninie unit helped with the arrest. meanwhile -- police investigate an officer-involved shooting in muscati. police say a hummer was reported stolen from a estaurant last night around ten o-clock. nearly thirty minutes later -- a muscatine sheriff's deputy found the vehicle on highway 61-- and tried stopping the driver -- but they wouldnn. they even hiia few parked cars and a police vehiicle. several shots were fired -- and the driver was eventually hit. he was taken to the hospital -- and the incident remaii under inveveigation. wildlife rehab experts arer hoping to educate people on the dangers of lead poisoning -- following the death of a bald eagle in eastern iowa.

two men found it in waverly and realized it was sick. they say they took it to an animal hospital -- and test results indicated a lethal amount of lead in its blood. kwwls olivia mancino has been following this story -- and joins us now with the details. olivia? the eagle wasn't shot however the lead poisoning could have come from lead shot shells or from fish tackle, which has lead in it. the wildlife rehab specialists who cared for the eagle are now advocating for nters to use alternative options "we believe it was ad poisoning" this video taken at local animal hospital shows a bald eagle in pain... vets recently learned (e was found by some citizens falls, where wildlife rehabilitationist linda nebbe took over. "this is big mama" nebbe is one of few licensed

rehab specialalts in iowa... and owns many of her own animals. "can you give me five? thats my boy?" "you know its hard on many levels too" tests showed lethal amounts of lead in the eagles blood nebbe "you hope its going to get better and then you watch it die she suspects the lead came from either shot shells or fishing lures. her son, nathanannebbe, explains the process. "those animals like eagles are other birds of prey, at the top of the food chain when they eat those animals the lead accumulltes in their r ssues and can poison them, its a very powerful neurotoxin." the nebbes say they want hunters to be consceintious when they're in the wilderness-- and to use steel shot instead of lead shot -- a far less toxic mercy of being poisoned

why hunters use lead shot more than steel shot they say it basically comes down to two things -- lead shot is cheaper -- about a five dollar a box difference also, lead is a more flexible material, which can prevent things like a bullet exploding in a gun barrel. back to you thanks olivia. lead is illegal to use for hunting waterfowl -- like geese or ducks. experts say it prevents lead from getting in the water. a local salvation army location now offers a special learning experience for people in the area. people can try archery saturday mornings at the salvation army in cedar rapids. students can spend an hour learning the basics in their first class -- and can participlate in competitions after that. the lessons are open to people of article in the paper, and that really made me sort of nostalgic yoyok state. classes starrd last week -- and

weather conditions stop them from havingnga little fun his weekened -- during the annual ice festival in dubuque. kwwl's shirley descorbeth stops by the event today -- and joins us live with the details. shirley? many familes were out enjoying their day at the ice fest held at the national mississippi river museum and aquarium. organizers s they actually see an increee in attendance during this event. this fest is all about winter activities. today, there was an ice harvesting. demonstttors sawing ice from the frozen mississippi river -- the chucks were eight inches thick. there was also snow and ice sculpting -- the carvers creating impressive works of art. families attending the fest say this gives them a good reason to get out of the house. a little bit cold, but it's a great educational experience for the kids."
