iowa. last week we showed you this picture-- it comes from inside a home in beaman--where a woman was hoarding more than fourty cats in horrible conditions. after airing this story, we've heard from many of you, bringing attention to similar situations around iowa kwwls olivia mancino has been taking a closer look at this problem she joins us now live i sat down with someone from the waverly pet rescue today who just recently took in more than fourty cats from a single home she says this happens way more than people think -- and rescue shelters quite "you give me kisses po?" meet po -- a playful "we lucked out on her, because po is a mother to cats shes had so many hernia surgery these pictures show

home that housed 43 cats. "not all of these hoarder home that's what makes this a tricky issue for so many rescue centers" "cats are very quiet...so dogs, quiet and no one would know beaman. we showed you this last week the conditions of the home are so bad, the owner evacuated herself but still went to feed the cats every single day for nearly a year, until local shelters stepped in. 'one cat can turn into fourty or fifty cats quite quickly" and the more cats in one like a day care -- if one kid gets sick, theres a good chance the rest will get sick too she says truthfully,

"so, i think candidate visits are going to be the key to locking up final support or any final or any sort of success on february 1st." chris larimer says undecided iowa voters have a history of waiting til the last minute to cast their ballots.

typically like to meet the candidates -- before voting. we've got you covered -- macleod hageman -- kwwl news. as a reminder -- the february caucus kicks off monday -- february first. and as chris larimer said, advertisement will become big in the next coming weeks. so far, the two biggest spenders are jeb bush and marco rubio. the two presidential hopefuls have spent a combined $91 million from their respective campaigns and outside backers. by comparison, the two republican frontrunners, donald trump and ted cruz, have spent just over $8 million combined. on the democratic side, bernie sanders has now surpassed rival hillary clinton in campaign spending. sanders has spent 12 point eight million to hillary's 11 point six million via funds from their campaigns and other supporters.

announced he will be meeting with iowa families that are impacted by the possible medicaid privatization. his meeting will take place tomorrow in iowa city. loebsack is helping lead the federal effort in delaying the privatization to ensure it is undertaken in a thoughtful manner. some house lawmakers approved a bill that would reinforce iowa gun owners' access to weapons during times of emergency in the state. a divided three- member panel from the house judiciary committee approved the bill today. the bill would specify that neither the governor nor state officials can prohibit lawful gun possession during a public disorder or disaster emergency proclamation. the current law allows state officials to do so. the bill now heads to the full committee and if it is approved - will go

east dubuque school district's embattled superintendent greg herbst has been named as a finalist for the same job at the galena unit school district in illinois. the school board narrowed their field down to three candidates at a meeting last night. herbst will interview at the beginning of february, and the board is expected to make a decision at their next meeting february second. a criminal investigator fired after complaining about speeding by governor terry branstad's security detail is asking the iowa supreme court to allow his wrongful termination lawsuit to proceed. in the case of former agent larry hedlund. hedlund was fired in 2013 after complaining to superiors that a speeding trooper driving
