this morning -- one part of the country is bracing for a massive winter storm. it's freezing air travel -- leaving millions of people wondering where they'll spend the weekend. plusus-- musical ccairs at the top. what a new poll shows us about the iowa caucuses. and your hands have to be steady to8do the job -- job one man continues to do even as he's about to turn 105. he won't cut and run -- and this morning, we're hearing his amazing story. i'm jerry gallagher. let's check on your r eather now with storm track 7 meteorologist kyle kiel. good morning. good friday morning. there has beenna little bit of light snow and flurries tracking through the area overnight, however it hasn't had

much of an impact on the roads. here's the storm track 7 live doppler radar. the snow has diminished quiet a bit as we do have some dry air in place. here's the road conditions. most of the area is find, but north of highway twenty there have been some slick spots. storm track 7 live weather network camera shows a few slick spots in decorah, otherwise we have quiet conditions across the area. visibility is also reuced due to some snow and a little few degrees since the clouds have hung on tight through the area. highs today will be in the 20s

where he disappeared in the woods in tennessee. he was hiking with his grandmothh and sister last week -- when he ran off. volunteers and several agencies had been desperately searching the woods for the two- year-old. "it's tough on law enforcement and the rescue and the firemm and everybodydythat's been outut there. it's tough because you give your heart and soul, and we're human, too." deputies call it a tragic accident -- and say there was nothing suspicious about his death. a toddler in oregon is ok this morning after running out into traffic. take a look at the dash cam video out of oregon. you can see the outline of the two-year-old boy come running into your picture. authorities say he snuck out of a community center and made his way into traffic. luckily he was not hurt. the sheriff'soffice says it could have been much worse if the deputy wasn't paying attention. an easasern iowa courthouse hero is

took his own life inside that courthouse. larry "buck" koos tackled gus glase, potentially saving lives. that happened in 2014 -- after glaser pulled out a gun at a board of supervisors meeting in jackson county. koos is one of three men who are suing -- claiming glaser was negligent when -- causing those inside to suffer injury and emotional distress. attorneys for glaser's estate deny the allegations. koos tells kwwl he has no comment. continuing coverage -- no charges against an iowa sheriff's deputy following a shooting. the muscatine county attorney says a deputy was justified when he shot a ssspect after a chase last week. authorities say timothy seefeldt stole a hummer from a restaurant parking lot. he was then accused of leading police on a chase and hitting several cars in a hotel parking lot, including a squad car. at that point, the deputy fired and hit seefeldt. he was then arrested and taken to the hospital. he is expected to be okk a man -- kicked by police after

180- thousand dollars. that was the decision by a jury in oregon. dash cam video shows what happened. the man was riding his motorcycle when the officer knocked him off his bike at a traffic light. thofficer then kicked him. the officer claims what he did was in l lne with state police policy. we're getting a look at crime rates in one eastern iowa city -- and those rates are going down. cedar falls police report a slight drop in crime last year. this continues a five year trend. police chief jeff olson says part of the credit has to go to citizens -- who lelethem know when they see something unusual -- and they hope that continues. "even if you don't know if just be the best witness you can and remember what you can about the individual or the vehicle or whatever you can and write those things down." cedar falls saw the largest drop in

however -- owi's did go up. it's 50 days in jail for a man police on a chase. jeffery kuennen pleaded guilty to domestic assault and carrying weapons -- among other charges. the winneshiek county sheriff's office was called to a disturbance at a home in spillville last november. after a chase -- kuennn was arrested. t-s-a agents have their hands full at airports when it comes to finding guns. more than 26- hundred guns were found in carry-on luggage last year. most of those weapons weree loaded. airports in dallas, atlanta, houston, denver and phoenix had the most reports. it's illegal to pack a gun in a carry-on bag. weapons are llowed in checked bags as long as they're unloaded know about it. a snowboarder is accused of starting an avalance. he could now faces charges. the man was wearing a camera when he went down a mountain at resort in california. the problem was -- the resort says it was in a very active

area" you can see him getting piled under the snow -- fighting his way to the surface. he's ok -- b bt could faces charges because the resort says he put himself and others at risk. just 10 days away from the iowa caucuses now -- and there's a shakak-up atatthe top of a new poll. a c-n-n poll shows donald trump ahead in iowa. trump leads senator ted cruz among likely caucucu goers 37 too 26 percent. senator marco rubio is third on the democratic side -- senator bernie sandersis ahead of hihilary clinton. the pollllshows sanders s ith 51 percent support in iowa compared to 43 for clinton. ben carson is back on the campaign trail for the first time since a a ampaign volunteter was killed in a crash this week in iowa. braden joplin died tuesday after the van he in flipped on an icy road near atlantic.
