most areas and it will be breezy with a south wind 10-20 mph. tonight, aside from an isolated rain or snow shower far north, it will be mostly cloudy with temperatures in the upper 20s. saturday will be mostly cloudy with temperatures in the upper 30s and lower 40s. we are tracking a weak system on sunday that will bring the chance for rain changing to snow. it's not looking like a huge rain or snow maker, but there could be some

accumulation. we will keep an eye on this trend. we are still tracking the us after midnight monday, so if storm will be affecting the midwest, and there will be a developing story overnight. a fire destroys an eastern iowa church. it happened last night in lamont. a fire at st. peter lutheran church. the church has been closed for a few years. we were told firefighters used an excavator to knock down the building. there's no word yet on what caused the fire. as soon as we learn more information, we'll let you know. this morning, we also expect to learn more about a shooting in cedar rapids. police say one person was shot in the area of 15th street and beaver avenue southeast. our kwwl crew on the scene saw two people being taken into custody. what happened from there -- we don't know -- because when we followed up with police this morning

-- just in case -- donald trump accepts his challenge for a one-on-one debate. the school says cruz booked it about a week ago -- but the proposed debate with trump never came up. "from the college point of view the sheer numbers are what we available i would think that a debate between cruz and trump would certainly draw more than 500 individuals." western iowa tech says it hasn't heard from the trump campaign since cruz went public with his challenge. today's also a busy day on the campaign trail for the democrats in iowa. yesterday, former president bill clinton spoke at wartburg college -- campaigning for his wife. he talked about the time they met. "she put her books and walked keep staring at me and i'm going to keep starring back, we should at least should be introduced. i'm hillary rodam. what's your name? at the moment i couldn't remember." hillary clinton will be in

this afternoon. senator bernie sanders will have a rally there tonight. continuing coverage this morning -- as many voters cast their ballot early -- ahead of a potential winter storm. on tuesday, waterloo voters will decide the fate of a career center. it would be the second of its kind in the state -- aimed at improving waterloo's graduation rate -- many people are concerned about tuesday's forecast -- so they're voting absentee ahead of time. you can vote absentee on the second floor of the courthouse today and monday -- or request a ballot by mail -- no later than today -- and return it monday. if you aren't registered -- you can bring your driver's license -- and a piece of mail that verifies your address -- like an "sometimes you get distracted. sometimes you forget. so, you have weeks to get around to voting, and you happen to be around during the day, it's just

election workers say 15 polling places will be open from seven in the morning -- until 8 p-m tuesday. a u-n-i center designed to help cut down on bullying... doesn't know how much money it will get from the state. u-n-i's center for violence prevention - - works with universities and schools across the state. last year, it became home to governor branstad's bully prevention program. with it - - the center which is supported by grants was hoping for more state money to expand. but the governor's budget "there is a lot of support for bully prevention and violence prevention in our state. that is decide what does and doesn't get funded." money for the center has now been lumped into the overall state funding given to the board of

the f-b-i is now releasing video of the deadly shooting in oregon -- after a protest that lasted weeks. an f-b-i plane took the video as it flew over a traffic stop this week. investigators say the man who was shot by law enforcement -- tried to drive around a roadblock and got stuck in a snowbank. they say when he got out of the truck -- he reached for his the f-b-i says he had a loaded gun in his pocket. the man killed was among those who took over a national wildlife refuge earlier this month. it's a crack down inside cracker barrel -- and it's caught on camera. new mexico police were chasing a man when he flipped his pick-up on a busy road. he then ran into a nearby cracker barrel, hid behind a display... and customers started running out. the man was eventually arrested -- and no one was hurt. he was wanted for a string of violent crimes. it's a rare rescue for deputies in florida. they had to rescue a pregnant cow stuck in large puddle fighting for her life.

too much pressure on her spine. they used a strap to rescue the soon-to-be mother and keep her from drowning. now, she's doing just fine. we're trying to wrap our heads around this one this morning. a college student is fined because of a lamp in his dorm room. the antique lamp is made out of a recycled liquor bottle the student says he got at an art festival. but when an r-a found it -- the student -- at florida atlantic -- was written up for having an alcoholic product. he now has to pay a 150-dollar fine, take an online alcohol education course, and do community service -- all because of a lamp. a wisconsin high school student is being fined for taking a second lunch. the fine would cover the cost of a lunch at some of the most expensive restaurants in the country. he has to pay 200 dollars for theft. the head cook was accused of pressing charges against the student -- but the superintendent says that isn't true.

morning, i'm meteorologist kyle kiel. threat tracker is in the green over the next 48 hours. we will be partly to mostly cloudy today to mostly cloudy tomorrow. we are tracking a quick moving low pressure system with a cold front on sunday that could produce some rain showers changing to snow. there could be minor accumulations of snow in the afternoon so that is something we will continue to track. as far as that winter storm. it is still on track to bring heavy snow to the midwest. last night it looked like the low was tracking more northwest, which would give a period of mixing to the south. now it looks like more of a southeast track, which makes most of the precipitation snow across eastern iowa. here are two different model comparisons showing where the heavier snow bands could set up. again, no amounts are being forecast at this point in time. we are still abour 4 to 5 days
