store in the cedar valley will be closing. simpson furniture with lolotions in cedar falls and coralville will be closing its doors. area residents have received fliers indicating the company will be closing both locations. the stores location was closed today - - in preration for whaha simpson called i is biggest sale ever. kwwl reached out for a comment - - but have not heard back at this time. the company opened in 1946. a local man is pleading for help to free his brother from a prison in congo and he believes politicians can come to his rescue. koboko@koboko is the district superintendent for the east

district of the unitetemethodist church in cedar rapids. this is a photo of his brother, vano kiboko in prison, praying. he tells our repooter kristin rogers today, his brother was put in to prison in congo for standing up for what s right and speaking out against the president of congo. kristin joins us live he says he worries his brother, vano kaboko is going to die in prison. and he is hoping sharing his story can turn into action and that s brother will be freed, he says his brother was thrown into prison in congo for no reason. kiboko kiboko moved to the united states from congo in hopes for a better life for his family he says his brother, vano, stayed in congo and is a buisnessman. kiboko tells me vano was thrown in to prison shortly after this press conference, for standing up for his beliefs.

decision 2011 -- after iowa, candidates are dropping like flies - two republican presidential candidates call ther campaigns quits today... kentucky senator rand pual suspends his campaign - he placed fifth during the iowa caucuues. paul says he plans to focus on his senate relection campaign -- which he's expected to win. 2012 ioww caucus winner rick santorum is expected to dip out of the race tonight... sources for santorum say that he will also endorse a candidate after suspending his campaign. monday night he did anounce he would be skipping new hampshire after the iowa caucuses. most of the candidates that remain are in new hampshire, as their primary vote is just under a week away. tonight there will be a televised forum in the town oo deery -- that's where hillary clinton and hampshire voters. after playing nice on monday -

winner texas senator ted cruz. trump tweeting today - "ted cruz didn't win iowa, he stole it. that is why all of the polls were so wrong and why he got far more vote than anticipated. bad!" trump ended up taking second place on monday; however, somee polls showed he held a sizable lead over other candidates leading up to caucus. speaking of trump - he's among this year's nominees for the nobel peace prize. the head of the peace reasearch institute in oslo says the republican presidential candidate was proposed by a united states nominator for his quote "vigorus peace through strength ideology." now just because he was nominated, it doesn't mean he's in contention for the prize - he wasn't listed among those with a chance of winning the prize. in continuing coverage... voters say no to a 47 million dollar bond vote that would've built a new career center...

required a suuer majority off0 percent to pass; however, only 45 percent of those who voted said yes... 55 percent rejected the measure. the goal of the 35-million dollar career center was to give students more specialized training in a specific field which would likely help improve the district's graduation rate -- which is about 74- percent... a goat named william tops the cocolville police department's most wanted list. william is a research goat who belongs to the university of iowa. he escaped while being transported to a facility in coralville on friday. this is a picture of a goat that looks like william, but it isn't the missing goat. the goat's been spotted multiple times near north liberty anddhe coralville dam... but policcand the university haven't been able to catch him. flint's tap water was contaminated with lead after the source switched from detroit to the flint river in 2014... convicted killer - and escaped prisoner david sweat apologizes in court today... sweat escpaed a new york prison last sumer with fellow convict ririard matt. their escape spawned a massive three week manhunt that left those in the area terrified. sweat was sentenced today for the escape, but he was already serving a life sentence for murder -- today he apologized. " i would like to aalogize to felt the fear, and felt it necessary to leave their homes or community because of the escape. that was never my intent, and i deeply apologize for that your honor." sweat's fellow escapee richard matt was killed by police during the manhunt -- sweat was arrested

not to prosecute cosby comes from a former district attorney. nbc's chris pollone has a look court for a second day, cheered by fans who gathered to catch a attorney john schmitt took the stand first. telling the judge he believed the montgomery county district attorney's 2005 decision not to prosecute cosby was "irrevocable." schmitt admitted there was no written agreement with d-a bruce castor, but pointed to castor's news release announcing the decision as proof charges against cosby would never be filed. tuesday, castor himself testified that when he decided cosby wouldn't be charged, he meant that none of his successors would prosecute cosby either. current montgomery county prosecutor kevin steele says no such agreement exists. schmitt says if the threat of criminal charges loomed, cosby never would have testified in a 2005 civil suit against him. it's the transcript of what cosby said in that lawsuit admitting to giving alleged victim andrea constand pills and wine, among other things which gave the newly- elected steele enough evidence to file

year. the judge told lawyers he couldn't find any case law which matches the scenario playing out in the cosby case. regardless of how the judge rules in the case, his decision will likely be appealed by the losing side. cosby is expected to appeal that decision. in other high profile crime news -- real estate heir robert durst pleads guilty to a federal gun charge today. the 72-year-old will be sentenced in april -- then he'll be transfered to california where he'll wait trial for the murder of write susan berman. durst was the center of the hbo documentary "the jinx" in baltimore - a convicted murderer whose conviction was the heart of the popular podcast serial - is back in court today. adnan syed is in court for a post-conviction hearing where a judge could possible overturn his conviction and life sentence for the murder of his high school girlfriend in the late 90s.
