"those are exactly the people you have to talk to and you have to negotiate with." united in principle, but drawing distinctions on how to get things done. their next debate is next thursday in wisconsin, after the primary. i'm tracie potts in washington, now back to you. another twist in the e-mail controversy that's hovered over clinton. the state department's been looking into how other secretaries of state used e-mail -- and found that colin powell and staff members for condoleezza rice also got classified information from personal e-mail accounts. for the past year, clinton has been blasted by republicans for using a personal e-mail server when she was secretary of state. right now, two police officers

being shot on the job. it happened in new york. they were on patrol in a public housing complex when they were confronted by a man with a gun who shot them. one officer was hit in the face, the other in the stomach. "thank god so far, in both took his own life. this morning, two soldiers are behind bars -- charged with murdering a teenager. the soldiers -- based at fort bliss, texas -- are accused of executing a 16- year-old. authorities believe the shooting happened over a drug deal. more help is on they way for syrian refugees. world leaders meeting in london pledged more than 10-billion dollars. the u-s pledged 890-million this year. secretary of state john kerry said the crisis inside syria should tear at the conscience of everyone. u-n agencies asked for money to help support schools, shelter and jobs for refugees from

a man is recovering after a dangerous rescue caught on camera. crews lifted him off the side of a dam after he spent days stuck on a mountain. the video is from washington state. the man is homeless. he jumped a fence and planned to set up camp there. but later realized -- he couldn't get out. even after days with little food injuries. in the iowa legislature... a new bill is designed to help student - athletes who are victims of bullying. it would let a victim transfer schools and immediately be eligible to play. as it stands now, all athletes "if they were being bullied of sports is very important to their lives and their daily activities. if this happens, i think it is a great opportunity for kids get a fresh start." the proposal made it through a subcommittee -- but has to pass other

senate democrats want to stop medicaid from being privatized in iowa. they're behind a bill that would require the department of human services to give 30 days notice to end the contracts three companies have witht he state to manage medicaid. the house speaker says it won't make it through the house. caught on camera --- an inmate escaping after being in court. using his clothes to hide handcuffs --the inmate in washington gets away -- even running barefoot. he sprints out the front door -- but police caught up with him about three miles away. this county says it has a pretty good record of keeping track of inmates but they'll now change their policies after what happened. "well the hope is that we go 15 and have zero escapes, that's the goal and i think that's achievable" it's the second time this same inmate has escaped.

the investigation into a deadly crash continues today. three people died early thursday morning on highway 30 near keystone. authorities say the driver of a minivan lost control -- another car crashed into it. then, two other cars crashes. the iowa state patrol says ten people were inside the van at the time of the crash -- two of them were thrown out. the victims' names have not been released yet. the parents of the dubuque toddler who shot himself in the face by accident -- his parents now faces charges. raven harris and willie horsley both face child endangerment charges after their son was rushed to the hospital with a gunshot wound. it happened more than a month ago on main street in downtown dubuque. court documents show the 2-year-old shot himself in the face with a 45- caliber handgun that was kept in the house. how to spot a super crook. that's one thing police need to know because of a hot ticket. the super bowl is sunday. jay gray shows us how fans hope to

sunday night into monday. here are a look at the latest road conditions. there are a few slick spots this morning, but roads are certainly better than what they were at this time yesterday. here's the storm track 7 live doppler radar. we are dry across eastern iowa. the snow we saw early last night and late yesterday afternoon is well off to our east. a wider view shows a mix of clouds and clear skies across eastern iowa. we will see an increase in clouds today, similar to yesterday. later this afternoon we will be tracking a weak area of low pressure that will give us the chance for afternoon snow flurries or a light snow shower later this evening. similar to yesterday there will be a

less than a half inch. here are therrent mpes from our weather trackers. a mix of single digits and teens. current temperatures across eastern iowa show that wide range of temperatures from north to south. winds are calm to 15 miles per hour, and that is creating some cooler wind chills, but nothing too bad. that could change next week. more on that in just a minute. here's future track. we will have increasing clouds throughout the day today. later this afternoon, we will see the chance for a few flurries, with the chance for a stray light snow shower later this evening. but that system quickly moves to the east, so most of tonight will be dry. it will

partner. the officer will be allowed to keep the dog after all. there was an uproar on social media when people learned a retiring ohio k-9 -- ajax -- had to be sold because he was considered city property and could still work. a lawyer did some digging and found the definition of a canine unit -- which includes the handler, not just the dog. that lets the handler be first in line to buy the dog. so he did for one dollar. so now, there's a question about "we're gonna continue with it and we're just gonna make sure that money gets to the right area and we're gonna make the law change." so -- with the dust now settled -- ajax is his home with the officer -- who has

broncos or panthers? who do you like in sunday's super bowl? a tiger at blank park zoo in des moines knows. the animal was supposed to pick the winner based on two boxes. the tiger sizes them up - then ends up going for the panthers the panthers have been getting a lot of love from the prognosticators. but that ends at this aquarium in florida. one manatee is eight for its last nine -- picking the super bowl. this year, it's picking the broncos -- in what could be peyton manning's last game. jimmy fallon is leaving it up to a pack of puppies to guide him. they had to choose between bowls of food marked panthers and broncos. overall, they liked denver. in his prime, eldrick "tiger" woods may have seemed robotic because he made the game of golf look so easy. this week, a different "eldrick" took "robotic" to new heights. that mass of metal on the 16th tee is "l-dric" -- or "launch directional robot intelligent circuitry."

will be watching on their brand new t-v. 1 in 4 americans in the market for a new set are hitting up super bowl sales... and for good reason. mark barger has the 4-1-1 on how you can get the best tv for the black friday usually means rock bottom prices on some tvs...... but the days before the super bowl bring big deals on an even wider range of them. "our advice is to buy a tv not just because its the lowest price set but because it's the deliver the kind of quality that you're looking for" but deciphering the specs can be confusing. ultra hd, also known as 4k, offers more detail than regular h-d tvs... but it's tougher to notice on factor this weekend. "this year the super bowl is not going to be broadcast in 4k and its probably going to take broadcasters 3-4 years to be able to catch up" but certain lcd or led tvs could pose a problem, if you're packing the room for your super bowl party, . "one of the downfalls to this technology is that often the viewing angle is sort of narrow" so consumer reports recommends looking at a tv from several angles before purchasing to make sure the picture quality still
