allegedly setting off the sprinkler system at covenant hospital today -- affecting 40 patients. this man -- 42 year old douglas hala -- is accused of tampering with the system around 5:30 this morning. covenant officials say the system was on the mental health floor. kwwl's olivia mancino reports. 5:30 am sunday... the sprinkler system goes off at covenant medical

displacing multiple patients in the intensive care and mental health units. this man is accused of setting off the sprinkler system-- 42 year old douglas hala. "our staff came in, we were in room change" covenant clinics vice president says the sprinkler system was set off on the mental health floor. about fourty patients had to move to new rooms while staff time so we can get patients back in their rooms" according to police, the sprinklers caused nearly ten grand in damanges-- which halverson says they're still working to assess. as of sunday, rooms in the mental health unit and icu are on diversion-- while they work to clean up the rooms and bring operations back to normal. authorities say douglas hala is being held on ten- thousand dollars bond. according to court records -- he was arrested last year for allegedly threatening a nurse at the same hospital.

recovering tonight after being shot in the leg. it happened saturday morning -- when officers were following up on a number of robberies and burglaires. in one of the stops -- inside an apartment-- an 18- year-old man shot and wounded a police officer. the man then also hurt himself. the officer was treated and released at a nearby hospital. the 18-year-old suspect remains behind bars. iowa city police are looking for a man involved in an armed robbery at a mexican bakery. it happened last night. the owner of acapulco tell us fifty-thousand dollars was taken at the time. kwwl's kristin rogers has the story. surveillence video from saturday night inside of be seen walking up to the cashier and leading her in to a cameras show the cashier being forced along with a gun to her back, as from a safe before he quickly
