chris christie is back at home in new jersey t tday -- though t this point he's still running. he's waiting for the final results to come in and this about the future. right now, convicted felons are not allowed to vote..but the iowa supreme court may soon be making changes to that policy. right now the only way felons can vote again is if their rights are restored by the governor... several civil rights groups are speaking out... saying the court shood change this.s. and restore fell's voting rights before the presidential election this year. iowa is one of just three states with lifetime voting bans for felons....kentucky and florida are the others. the court could make a decision on this as early as this summer... before the november elections. new at noon: iowa state university police say a driver lost control -- andanded their suv on top of parked cars. check it out-- isu police say it happened yesterday morning around ten. investigators say the driver apparently got the brake and gas

nearby road, over the sidewalk, into the parking lot and then top of the other cars. two tow trucks were used to get the s-u-v down. police tweeted out saying " careless driving affects more than just you and your car. fortunately nobody was hurt." in des moines -- two deadly fires. in one case, the victim's name has not been released. this home burning already when firefighters arrived and they're still investigating the cause. in the other fire -- investigators believe the man deliberately set his home on fire. police responded to a home for a disturbance, saw flames, and tried to get the man to come outside. neil johnston pulled a gun on officers and then died in the fire. investigators aren't sure why johnston started the fire. a drug that reverses the effects of a heroin overdose will be much more accesible by the end of the year. walgreens will offer the drug -- without a prescription -- in 35 states and d-c. c-v-s announced similar expansion plans last week however -- iowa is not one of

that doesn't mean heroin isn't a problem here. in fact -- it's the topic of a town hall meeting tonight at the downtown cedar rapids library. panelists will talk about the heroin epidemic nationally and here in iowa. doors open at 6:30...the program begins at seven. in the iowa legislature -- there's a bill that would keep minors out of tanning beds. a house subcommittee approved a bill that would ban anyone under the age of 17 from similar bill last year, but would ban anyone under the age of 18. in dubuque, a tanning salon owner wants lawmmkers to considdr this: "i do have some kids that come in that have depression or severe acne, and the doctors recommend it for them." right now, iowa is one of eight states that does not regulate indoor tanning for minors. president obama takes a trip home today-- to where his career began. today the president returns to springfield, illinois... whehee he served in the state senate for nearly eight years...

welcome back i'm meteorologist kyle kiel. we are starting you off with a picture of the sunrise sent in from independence this morning. this was as clouds were beginning to track into the area. while most of us are dry, some of ususare seeing light snow showers and flurries, especially to the west. it will be cold today and any snow will be light and not have too much the roads. and cold, thhn we track another chance for light snow as we head thursday night into friday that could drop some more light accumulations. here's what's goinnon as far as the road conditions are concerned. most of the snow is falling in central iowa, however we are seeing parts of our western counties getting in on the snow. lookinggt the visibility map it is very easy to see where the

fire. dramatic dashcam video shows an officer pulling a woman from a burning car with just moments to spare. take a look at this video out of missouri. an officece racing to the scene of a crash, ppling out a samaritan. moments later, the car went up in flames. the woman suffered serious injuries -- we don't know how she's doing at this point. police say the crash was caused by a driver running a red light -- that driver has since been arrested. a cold case is cracked. the murder suspect...a former priest. the 81-year-old man is accussed of killing a woman in 19696. investigators say the priest was the last person to see the woman alive -- when she went to him for confession. he says, he's innocent. a man steals from a photo booth. unfortunately fofohim...the camera was snapping away during the crime. this man is accused of stealing from a photo booth back in november. it took illinois police a few month to get bccess to the
