a 111 campus shooting on the univesrity of iowa by chinese student, gang lu. he shot and killed four faculty members, one student - and seriously injured another student before turning a gun on himself. kwwl's kristin rogers has been working to connect the dots all day, she joins us live. the university tells me they are only able to say so much. we do know their threat assessment team investigated the "concerning comment" and said there was no immediate risk. the university told me today campus safety is their top priority. but what's concerning obtained written by hanxiang ni on a chinese social media site where quote "let his professors experience the fear of lu gang." in reference to the shooting tradegy on campus in 1991.

currently had a student by the name of hanxiang ni, they said they do not, but they did tell us quote. hanxiang ni was enrolled as a ui student during 2013-14 academic year and again in spring of 2016 as a pre-business major. although the school did not say why ni is no longer a student, the johnson county sheriffs office told me his visa was taken away. we've got you covered live in iowa city, kristin rogers...kwwl news. the sheriffs office tells us ni had multiple gun permits but they were taken away last week after his visa was revoked; however, they won't tell us why. an eastern iowa zoo must get rid of its tigers and lemurs - per a federal judge. the judge ruled today the owners of the cricket hollow zoo, near manchester, must send their tigers and lemurs to a facility licensed with the u-s department of agriculture within 90 days; however, their other animals can stay put. in the past, the zoos owners denied any mistreatment of the

a scam alert now. deputies are looking for a trio of guys accused of home-improvement scams in the area. the tama county sheriff's office put out the pictures of these guys today... elvis, tyson and bobby allison are from indiana and known to drive trucks with montana and iowa plates. they say the men typically target older people for things like roofing work, or seal- coating driveways. if you've got any information about these men, call your local authorities. the price of gas drops to it's lowest since 2003. u-s crude prices are down to just over 26 dollars a barrell... the steady decline seems like a plus, but it's raising some concerns about global markets. the dow jones fell sharply after the price of oil fell... however, rebounded and by the end of the day closed down one point six percent. the nasdaq and s and p 500 ended the day down as well. the last four occupiers at a

to federal authorities. fbi agents say david fry was the last protestor to surrender, bringing the stand-off, which started on january second, to an end. the occupiers demanded the government turn over the land near burns oregon to the locals. just four people were left on the refuge last night... the group had been surrounded by armored vehicles on wednesday and escorted by f-b-i agents off of the property. decision 2016... democratic presidential hopefuls face off, in what some say could be the most contentious debate yet. bernie sanders is coming off a big win from the new hampshire primary... while hillary clinton is taking a close look at her campaign. tonight's debate will be clinton's first public appearance, after private meetings with her advisors. despite who they're voting for - people in milwaukee are excited to host the candidates. i think everybody's kinda excited to see it no matter who you support, so it's kind of fun to have it here.

to attend the debate on the university of wisconsin milwaukee campus. the debate airs tonight on p-b-s... it starts at eight. in the iowa legislature - a bill that would put a stop to the privatization of medicaid gets through the senate - and it won't go much further. the bill would shut down contracts with private companies that would take over the state's medicaid program - today it passed the democrat-majority senate; however, it's now expected to pass through the repubilcan-led house. an eastern iowa brewing company is planning a multi- million dollar expanion. toppling goliath brewing company in decorah is currently working in a 30-barrel brewhouse. by next year -- they hope eto be in their new 100- barrel brewhouse -- an eight to ten million dollar upgrade. goliath brewmaster -- mike saboe -- says they're expanding "i think we're more excited than

a police officer is expected to die after he's shot during a stand-off. it happened overnight in fargo, north dakota. investigators say 33-year-old jason moszer was responding to an active shooter situation when he was shot. officers say the shooter called 911, and has been at a standoff with police all day. officer moswer is currently in critical condition - with quote "non- survivable" injuries. a teenager is accidentally shot and killed - after his cousin falls off a hoverboard, and shoots a gun. this happened in florida. police say an 18- year-old says he was playing with a gun while on the hoverboard, and fell off when the gun fired. 13-year-old lavardo fisher was fatally hit by that bullet. at this point, inestigators are trying to determine whether charges should be filed. we hear about it way too often -- kids finding a gun - and then accidentally shooting themselves or someone else. how tempting isit for young

reports, this gift could impact the lives of many generations in the years to come. hospital's newest training equipment. it's a birthing simulator, nicknamed mary-beth after two well regarded former finley nurses, who've died in recent years. (jenni scott, birthing suites manager) "i think they were both taken away from us too soon, so that education can range far and wide with this training tool. (brad hanson, @bhansonkwwl) "hospital staff tells me that mary beth here is the ideal patient. she can pretty much do everything except scream---probably a good thing." it's a big upgrade from what they used to have. "we used to have just a dummy to do cpr on that wasn't moment." virtually every birthing scenario can be simulated--staff can even change the baby's heartbeat nats heart beating it's a training tool they hope will help save lives. "i think that it will just create better care for the patient. you can never predict what's gonna happen in the delivery, but if you're more capable of anticipating and knowing how to react to the things that happen, they'll be able to handle a
