in nevada and colorado. plus the republicans are getting ready for their debate in south carolina tomorrow. i'm tracie potts in washington, now back to you. that was the last time they'll face each other before the nevada caucuses in a week. south carolina's primary is after that -- and then it's super tuesday on march first. continuinggcoverage. the stannoff in oregon is over -- more than a month later. the last four activists surrendered yesterday. they were part of a group that took over a wildlife refuge in january -- upset over federal land policy. all four will be in court later today. 12 others were arrested last week. right now, two officers are in the hospital after being shot during a car chase. it happened in georgia. an officer tried to pull over a car that didn't have a tag. the driver did not stop. police say

"currently, we believe that the officers that were injured as a result of shots fired from another officer. the investigation is ongoing. there are a lot of evidence that's got to be collected and processed." investigators say the officers are expected to survive. in that same state this morning -- a big scandal involving prison guards. dozens of current and former guards are facing drug and "toda's case is the outcome of exactly this unraveling of lead after lead. where it would lead not only from inmate to inmate, from corrections officer to corrections officer, but from institution to institution." in one case -- investigators say guards believed they were protecting a drug dealer -- and received thousands of dollars of bribes. ttieves steal a car with a child

hours -- near the same city. it happened this week near san diego. in one case, a woman ran into her apartment and left her five-mononh-old in the car. thehecar was gone when she came out. it was found abandoned an hour later -- with the baby still in in the other case, a woman checked into a hotel, but left her young son in the back seat. the toddler was found ok -- when the thief called police himself in the iowa legislature -- the medicaid debate heats up. the democratic- led senate approves a bill totoreak up plans to privatize it. the bill would end iowa's contracts with three private companies. three republican senators voted for it -- but the bill isn't expected to go far ii the republican-led house. this morning, still no decision from iowa utilities board about the proposed bakken oil pipeline. we've seen months of public input -- followed by four straight dayss of meetings. the board says it needs another

if approved, the 3-point-7 billion dollar pipeline would carry about half a million gallons of crude oil across 18 iowa cunties --- "the impact of a spill, and pipelines always spill and members enjoy iowa, we live in iowa and enjoy the outdoors and we care about the environment and it will get put back correctty." the next public hearing is set for a week from today. if the board still can't make a decision... expect two more meetings in march. iowa lawmakers are yet to settle a debate about school funding... but they are considering another expense for school districts... a bill would require an athletic trainer at every high event. the goal is to have someone on staff who can help diagnose and treat a student who suffers a concussion. to pay for it... unfortunately when the state puts more requirements on us but costing us between 5 - 7 thousand a year to have these people in place there are gonna be districts

you had to do is listen to the crowd at indiana. the hoosier fans were revved up hosting the hawkeyes last night. indiana came out strong. they led iowa by 16 in the first half. the hawks battled back -- behind another solid game by am woodbury. he finishhd with 13 poiis and 15 rebounds. iowa up 52-50 at that point.
