amanda goodman. and i'm ron steele, thanks for joining us. local law enforcement say goodbye to a good friend today. the grant county, wisconsin sheriff's office holding a memorial service for k-nine diego, who died just over a week ago. kwwl's brad hanson was on hand for the memorial service. brad joins us live from the t-h-h media newsroom in dubuque with more. nearly 100 people were on hand today to say goodbye to a dog that served in grant county for about eight years. and for the deputy who worked with him for many years, it was a great way to say goodbye to an old friend. "he always had your back. it didn't matter if he was in the and now the grant county sheriff has diego's back--giving him a proper sendoff after he died bloodclot in his lungs.

new at ten -- police say one person is killed new at ten -- police say one person is killed and a child seriously injured following a car crash. it happened around noon in ankeny. the driver reportedly lost control of the car -- went into between two trees. the child involved was air lifted to an area hospital. the victim's names are not being released at this time. a man charged with murdering his girlfriend will not have his trial moved. a judge denying eddie hicks'

dubuque county. he's accused of fatally stabbing his girlfriend -- kahdyesha lemon -- in dubuque last june. hicks saying extensive media coverage would make for an unfair jury -- but a judge denying that claim. his trial is set to begin march 29th. authorities arrest a man accused of firing a pellet gun at a person on the street. the fayette county sheriff's office says 50- year-old bryan lynch, of westgate, fired the weapon out of his upstair window -- just missing someone across the street. lynch is charged with aggravated assault and criminal mischief. one year after launching a crime tips website -- one local police department say its leading to multiple arrests. dubuque police using the i-d-4-p-d website for cases they need help solving -- posting surveillance photos from crime scenes. many of them involve local businesses, hit with crimes of theft and forgery.

a good cause. today was the annual cupcake wars at allen hospital in waterloo. there was nearly three hundred dozen cupcakes made at the hospital today. there were two themed teams competing in the competition - the love rocks themed cupcakes and the doctor seuss themed cupcakes. three judges were on hand --ultimately picking the love rocks themed cupcakes as the winner. one of the judges for the competition -- waterloo mayor quentin hart. mayor quintin hart "i had the fortunate opportunity morning so, just a great cause and a great way to bring awarness and some good food too. i don't know if i've ever had a cupcake before six o'clock in the morning" all of the money raised from the event goes to the american heart association.

the suspect driving at speeds of more than 100 miles per hour during the hour long pursuit. the chase finally ending after the driver hit the spike strips laid down by police and crashed into the median. the driver reacting moments after the incident. jonathan davis/high speed driver :05 "i'm done with people trying to take my freedom because i smoke driver :06 "...until they shot my car. i didn't know they was gonna shoot mcnamara/mcclennan co. sheriff :12 "he put a lot of people in danger. this creep put a lot of people in danger...including his own life. but he put the public in danger." the driver was taken into custody and charged with driving while intoxicated and possession of controlled substances. one person is killed after crashing an s-u-v into a tree. take a look at the aftermath here in northern california. authorities say the driver was speeding when his vehicle spun out of control...flipped over...and landed almost upright into the tree.

even worse -- the tree is right kirsten cutts/neighborhood resident "definitely very very grateful. i've never really been a fan of that tree because it gets everywhere but i'm definitely re-thinking how i feel about it." authorities say alcohol may have been a factor in the crash. a woman is suing a tanning salon after losing two of her fingers. the tennessee woman says she was using the tanning bed at the salon at the time of the accident. her lawyer says a cooling fan fingertips slid straight into the fan. dovie marek, lost fingertips "i threw my hands up and i heard the 'thwop' and grabbed my and i can see my finger on the floor." according to her lawyer -- sun tan city will not pay for medical bills and isn't taking responsibility
