man is shot twice. it happened in cedar rapids on the sixth of febuary -- 44-year-old richard smith was r rleased from the hososital for his injuries. investigators say the shooter was a child who thought he was actng in self-defense at the time. a woman is now in critical condition after a deadly fire inside her home. it happened in cedar rapids yesterday. investigators say ronald jacobs died at the scene while his wife karen was taken to the university of iowa hospitals and clinics where has life-threatening injuries and is in critical conditions. police say they weren't able to find any working smoke alarms inside their home. a home is seriously damaged, but no one is hurt after a house fire. the charles city fire department says they were called to a home in e 12 hundred block of f street last night because heavy smoke was coming fromthe home.

a cabinent in the nurse's office at holmes junior high. he's also charged with filing a false report with police. the cedar fallss chool district tells us they're dealing with this as a personell issue. the united states military may see fewer injuries in years to come -- and it's all thanks a new project at the university of iowa. the biomedical engineering and physiologyyprograms at tt university developed a virtual soldier program. staff use two virtual soldiers -- santos and sofia -- to track the chances of someone getting hurt during certain activities.
