a cedar falls high school english teacher - - doug wilkinson - - pictured in these year books from 2006 through 2015 - -accused of stealing holmessjr high students' medications - reported on february 1st. then on february 2nd, security video allegedly shows wilkinson recounts the video - saying wilkinson "places said medication in his pants requires students to store their medications in the nurse's office - - that is how wilkinson was able to allegedly steal 5 different students' perscriptions. we tried to talk to wilkinson attis home - - you can see him here coming to the door - seeing it was kwwl and then walking away. these charges - - upsetting to many parents- - "well i was shocked. i thought i heard everything, but yea i i as really shocked and i never thought that would happen,

continuing coverage -- police charge six people following the fatal shooting of teenager -- emma redlinger. police say redlinger, of vinton, was accidenly shot in the head last yyar after her friend mishandled a gun. these six people have now been arrested and charged with various offenses -- including drug charges. 52-year-old robyn merchant is facing a federal offense of providingg firearm to a prohibited person. investigators determining the shooting last february was unintentional. the family says they will not be making a statement at this time. trial is set for the man arrested in a fatal hit-and-run that killed a student on the iowa state university campus. 23-year-old benjamin clague pleading not guilty in the crash..his trial is ow set to benjamin clague pleading not april fifth. investigators say he was driving a cy-ride bus when he hit and killed...

student at the university -- originally from urbana. clague is charged with leaving the scene of an accideet resulting in death follwing thehe crash on the i- s-u campus last december. a teenager is killed after riding on the running boards of his truck. it happened just across the border in grant county, wisconsin. kyle vosberg died in the accident. the grant county sheriff's office says 19-year-old kyle vosberg was driving his truck at about 30 miles per ur. they say that's when he climbed out of the drivers seat, and stood on the runnnnng boards as he was steering the truck from the outside. back in his truck, he slipped and fell on the road. his friends taking him to his house -- instead of calling 911. "it appears somewhere right around an hour, by the time they miles from where it happened...and then in turn she transported him down to dubuque." authorities say calling 911 right away could have gotten kyle medical attention earlier. they are all investigating to

time. a man pleads guilty in the death of an iowan following a robbery. 22-year-old sarael duncan, of omaha, pleading guilty to lesser charges as part of a plea deal. duncan and three others robbed 20- year-old jacob combs of marijuana in council bluffs last august. combs jumped on the car trying to chasesethem down -- but fell and hit his head. he later died at an area hospital. duncan was originally charged with murder -- however that charge has now been lowered. virtual reality and the u-s military -- they're coming together for a new virtual soldier research program. it's happening at the university of iowa after the school recieved a 2-point-six million dollar grant from the office of naval research. kwwl's hillary maglin has the story. nats these university of iowa staff members aren't working out nats the program uses computer tracking g and the help of two virtual people named santos and sofia -

of the one-point- five million dollar project on fourth street in downtown waterloo --which is set to start in spring. it includeu reconstruction of the concrete railing undeethe canopy, fixing the wwlkway, and painting -- among other things. the bridge was built in 1976 - and hasn't been painted in about 20 years. two city council members suggest reducing or getting rid of a salary increase for 500 city employees. dubuque city council members luis del ro and david resnick say they want the council to decrease a proposed one- point-seven percent property tax increase. city officials say it's needed to address rising health care costs and to offset revenue declines. resnick says he feels that city employees deserve a raise but says that even a small reduction in the wa increase would make a significant difference in lowering the city's recommended

a judge ruling today that apple can help the f-b-i unlock the phone used by one of the alleged gunmen in the san bernardino shooting. syed farook and his wife tashfeen malik died in a shootout with police after they allegedly shot and killed fourteen of farook's coworkers in san bernardino, california last december. authorities were working to unlock farook's phone to learn more about farook and the shooting. they believe it could possibly lead to other terrorist contacts and/or plans. three people are saved after their tug boat starts to sink. the 55-foot boat was taking on

morning -- about two miles from land. the captain contacted the coast guard but the boat was nearly underwater. one of the people on board was able to get to the life raft -- boat came to the rescue. capt. joe maloney, jr/boston harbor pilots "i saw the lights. we were just breaking the sky i saw the the tug, the silhouette and then it was gone." s/ doug richmond/rescued "he's the man. we wouldn't be here if it wasn't for joe. the two men were only in the water for a couple minutes -- but the water was a frigid 37 degrees. a small dog is rescued from a house fire. the little guy hiding inside the home in san diego during the fire. a man then broke into the home to bring him to safety. the pup was taken to a veterinarian to be treated for smoke inhalation. the homeowner's were not injured in the fire --which was reportedly caused
