the white house is expected to announce his travel plans later today. the visit will mark another step between the two countries to heal a relationship -- after decades of cold war friction. on tuesday -- the u-s and cuba signed a deal restoring commercial air travel. engineers are on the clock in flint, michigan. the governor says they have one month to find the underground pipes that are contaminating the city's drinking water. the governor is under pressure to move quickly. today, the health and human services secretary sylvia burwell will be in flint to get a firsthand look at the federal response to the city's water crisis. she'll also visit a health center giving tests and health care services to families and children who've been affected by lead-contaminated water. new this morning: an iowa police chief under fire. an investigation by the mayor's office in dension found racist and pornographic pictures from -- the police chief -- on a shared city computer drive. that now has people protesting. former police officer claims he

own employees -- putting pictures of their heads on different things. the city attorney says the lewd images were created on the police chief's own private computer. they don't know how it ended up on technology seen by co-workers. i think any reasonable person would agree. basically trying to get it out there saying he this they are and it needs to change." the mayor reportedly disciplined the police chief -- but so far -- no details are being released about that. the police chief said he would not talk about the allegations. this morning, an eastern iowa school principal is off the job. last week, she was arrested for o-w-i. amber dietz is the principal at kingsley elementary school in waterloo. she was arrested friday on the corner of hillcrest and ridgeway in black hawk county. court records show she had a blood alcohol level of point-159. a spokesperson for the waterloo school system says dietz is not on the job, and a member of the school leadership team is running kingsley

this morning, waterloo police are investigating after some homes were hit by bullets. at least 20 shell casings were found. police were called after a report of shots being fired on woodmayr drive last night. no injuries have been reported. a hot debate about guns in the classroom. the university of texas president clears the way for those with a concealed carry license to bring their weapons into the classroom. beginning august first, state law will require public universities to allow concealed guns in classrooms and buildings. it also gives campuses some leeway to carve out gun-free zones. gun-rights supporters believe it will make campuses safer. "as a professor, as a teacher empathize with them and that was part of this process with the working group, part of the two months of discussion, but in the end, as the president of the university, as the head of a state agency, i do have a responsibility to carry out the law."
