there was information on the chief's private computer that got onto the department's shared drive. the attorney also says appropriate disciplinary action has been taken... no details have been released about what that discipline is... but groups protested the chief's alleged actions yesterday:.. "public opinion. what he's got on his computer is not right and they are and it needs to change." the police chief says -- he will not talk about it. a kwwl follow- up... as police tell us no arrests have been made following a report of shots fired last night... officers found at least 20 shell casings in the 15- hundred block of woodmayr drive in waterloo. no one was hurt. but last night -- officers told in the iowa legislature... a bill advances, that could count the number of untested rape kits in our state. it now moves on to the full house. when kwwl visited the state crime lab two years ago, investigators told

cases on backlog, including rape kits. multiple states have focused on the kits in recent years. the federal government pledged to address the issue. also advancing -- a bicyclist bill. it would require drivers passing cyclists in the same direction to do so similar to how they would pass another crossing the center line...giving the cyclist space. some bike shop owners think this bill could help get more people out on bikes... a medical mariway through iowa legislature... it means more people may be able to use cannibas oil... the bill would also create a system for manufacturing... dispensing... and possessing medical marijuana.... currently, iowa law allows some epilepsy patients to use cannabis oil...but...without a system in place to sell it, things get tricky. yesterday the house commerce committee voted 17 to 6 in support of the bill. this still bans smoking marijuana -- even for medical reasons. it'll now go to the full house... elsewhere -- an l-a hospital paid thousands of dollars to hackers to get its computer this week... the medical center in this video handed over about 17- thousand dollars worth of bitcoins -- a form of internet currency... staff started noticing a problem almost two weeks ago -- as

systems. administrators decided the quickest way to get back up and running was to simply pay the "ransom"... the f-b-i is now investigating... speaking of hospitals... about one in five americans visits the emergency room each year... a majority say they needed treatment for a serious medical condition. but 12-percent head to the e-r was not open -- and seven percent said they had no other health provider. medicaid patients were most likely to seek emergency care for serious symptoms. adults without insurance tended to use the e-r for less urgent problems. a homeless shelter is looking for help as they continue to battle bedbugs. the hope house in dubuque has been dealing with the parasite for the past two years. staff has started aggressively treating for the bugs--checking beds and spraying furniture. now they're hoping to raise money to get new bed frames and chairs that'll help make the "is that going to stop the

cuba signed a deal restoring commercial air travel. obama's trip will take him to a handful of other latin american nations as well. the search is on for potentially deadly radioactive material that was stolen late last year... this is raising fears the material could fall into the hands of isis fighters who control parts of that country... it's a nightmare scenario... isis packing radioactive material in explosives... making a so-called used by the oil industry to check for leaks in pipes, has vanished in southern iraq. an iraqi government document seen by nbc news confirms "a highly dangerous radioactive material"... iridium 192... was stolen from a storage facility linked to weatherford oil company in november. u-s based weatherford oil told nbc news: "we do not and that a different company held the material.
