viewer showing a semi that was blown over on highway 63 north of waterloo... we'rve heard a few more reports throughout eastern iowa of similar accidents happening... new at noon -- the iowa department of public health announcing a person in iowa has tested positive for the zika virus. of an iowan contracting the virus... we're told it's a woman between the ages of 61 and 80... who had recently traveled to central america. the health department also says the general public here in the state is not at risk of getting zika -- because of the lack of mosquitoes holding the virus here... two people were taken to the hospital in an early morning house fire today... the fire happened in waterloo -- where crews were called to the scene just before 5 a-m... one of the hospitalized men actually attempted to save his neighbor after he smelled smoke... he broke through the back door window to get inside.... "i couldn't see anything. i couldn't breath. i tried yelling

out." rasmussen was released from the hospital -- but his nieghbor is still being treated today... in the iowa legislature... a key deadline today -- the first funnel. bills had to be voted out of a committee by today or they die. so -- let's take a look at among those moving forward -- one bill deals with a drug that can reverse the effects of a heroin overdose.... the bill would allow first responders...includi ng police officers and firefighters...to carry and administer the drug... a program to expand medical marijuana in iowa is also moving forward today... the bill would allow more patients to use cannabis oil. right now, only epilepsy patients can. however -- smoking marijuana would still be banned... a bill that would ban employers from asking about someone's history on the job application will continue to be considered...

thought about similar "ban the box" rules... under the proposal --employers could still ask you about your criminal history, just later in the process. also moving forwrd -- a bill that could count the number of untested rape kits in our state. multiple states have focused on these kits in recent years. the federal government pledged 40-million dollars last year to address the issue. and -- a bill that would require hgh schools to have certified medical professionals at sporting events also continues on... the bill focuses on so-called collision sports...football, wrestling, soccer. a big goal is preventing concussions...but providing the staffing can be expensive... secretary for iowa atheltic trainers' society) "if you can afford to health care provider on site to have them." it could cost a school 25-hundred to five-thousand dollars a year, if the school doesn't already have an athletic trainer or medical professional at these events. now to the bills that died -- one of those -- a measure that wanted some rose bowl revenge...

becuase of their halftime performance on new years day. their band poked fun at iowa...marching into a frowning farmer formation... and bringing out a dancing cow. this bill did gain some support from univerisyt of iowa fans... but yesterday.... a majority leader told reporters the bill would not be debated in the house or senate. another bill that's died today would have required you to be 21 to buy tobacco products, instead of 18... that will not come to pass. the state's minimum wage will not be going up -- 12 dollars an the session... the bill called for a handful of hikes to get it there. to 8-75 in july, 10- 50 in january. then to 12- dollars in july of next year. state lawmakers were also considering making it illegal for iowans to use their phones a hands-free device -- but that bill died as dot com for more funnel day coverage...

things are expected to run as usual at the waterloo airport today -- after an unexpected landing yesterday. an american airlines plane left sioux falls for chicago, but was forced to land at the waterloo airport yesterday afternoon... passengers say they saw and smelled smoke in the cabin -- and the floor got hot after 22 minutes in the air. 29 people -- including passengers and crew -- were on board. passengers say they felt like something was wrong before leaving south dakota... really, all of us were crying and freaked out and scared. a couple people were yelling, swearing." after a four-hour wait -- passengers then took a second plane to chicago o-hare. but a few people say they couldn't fly again -- and decided to drive. american airlines continues to review the plane at the waterloo airport. some sad news to pass along today...

things could get worse--pattison is now asking clayton county to rezone understand why they want to expand, it's important to find out who they are, and what they do. pattison sand company began mining silica sand in 2007. that sand is perfectly round, and is used to prop open shale in fracking operations. water, sand and some gas are extracted. the fracking industry has quickly become a large supplier of oil to "it's just too big of a deal in this controversy. many opponents claim the process can do a lot of damage, including damaging water supplies deep below the earth. gil gutknecht, a spokesperson for pattison, says those fears are exaggerated. gasoline is so cheap today and technology called hydraulic peter sandstone that sits below the quiet farmlands of clayton county. reserves of this sand strech across much of the region. they're hoping to rezone a large chunk of land here to keep them in business for anywhere from five to fourty five years from now. it's a business they say brings tens of millions of dollars into clayton county. "we have to invest enormous amounts of capitol. and to make sure that we can essentially amortize those costs, we need more property." but they're being met with stiff resistance from the vifians and many others in the county. concerns range from the changing face of the landscape. "we just feel that frac sand mining is very destructive to the natural environment, and the beauty of our area. bluffs are being destroyed, habitat is also destroyed."

the ingregient list is as follows: 1 bag of "simply" potatoes brand refrigerated hash browns 20 oz. bag, not frozen 6 eggs 4 oz. of half and half 2-3 pieces of asparagus, cut on the bias " pieces 2 tbsp. of feta cheese 1 tbsp. of mozzarella cheese 1 tbsp. of parmesan cheese pinch of nutmeg a squirt of hot sauce cup of extra virgin olive oil salt & pepper to taste canola cooking spray directions: take a pie pan and spray it down with canola cooking spray. then empty the whole bag of hash browns in to a bowl. mix in olive oil and salt and pepper. mix gingerly. now, empty the hash browns in to the pie pan and press the hash browns down in the center. add more hash browns to

making a crust. tucking in at the center moving hands outward toward the sides. when you have your crust done. place in to a 350 degree oven for 25-30 minutes or until crust is golden brown. set crust a side. to make the custard all you need to do is crack eggs in to a bowl. add the half & half, nutmeg, hot sauce, salt & pepper. wisk away vigorously for a few minutes. you want to incorporate "air" in to the custard mixture. now, once you a made your custard, gently ladle in custard in to hash brown crust. make sure not to over fill. now, place your quiche' on a baking sheet with a 1" lip. cover your quiche' with foil, and dome it with cooking spray. let it bake for 45 minutes to just over an hour. when liquid on top is cooked out, it's done. garnish with feta, mozzarella and more parmesan cheese.
