let's check on your weather now with storm track 7 meteorologist eileen loan. good morning. we have some light fog out there this morning, especially in the mid to upper 30s this morning, although the winds have turned to the north. they are 5 to 15 mph and will pick up more this morning and stay breezy all day. we had a few sprinkles or flurries track through overnight and may see a few today, but we will be mainly cloudy and breezy as a strong system tracks to our east. we will be cooler than winds will be the strongest in

cool even more. we have a nice warm up on saturday before a developing overnight: a shooting investigation in cedar rapids. police are not telling us much at this point. this is what we know. there was a shooting at the cedar valley townhouses in cedar rapids last night. police were called there around 9-30. it's on j street southwest. police tell kwwl there are two victims -- but would not tell us anything else about their injuries. we expect to hear more from this morning. we'll stay on top of it -- and bring you the latest as it comes in. decision 2016 -- and another big decision in favor of donald trump. he won the nevada caucuses last night, but they're still counting votes this morning. we don't know who finished second. tracie potts tells us the republicans are already focused on the next big date on the political calendar. ahead to super tuesday after his victory in nevada. people standing in line for entrance polls shw trump dominating every key voting block, scoring high with voters looking for outsiders and looking for change. "because we need change and we need trump, we really do." second place is still a toss-up this morning.... and so is super tuesday - 12 states, including texas... home of ted cruz: "lemme tell you something you look at those super tuesday states they like their guns too." the midwest gets its first chance to vote on super tuesday. marco rubio's already in michigan: "we are even going to campaign to people that are fans of ohio state, evevryone. is that too far? is that too much?" in michigan, polls show john kasich averaging second place, with trump still a clear leader. more than 600 delegates will be

half what's needed to win the nomination. i'm tracie potts in washington, now back to you. trump vows to keep guantanamo bay open if he's elected president. he said that as the president announced his plan to shut down gitmo. right now, there are about 90 people being held there. under the president's plan -- some would be shipped to other countries. others would be sent to the u-s. "it's counter-productive in our fight gainst terrorists because they use it as propaganda in their efforts to recruit." he also says we're already holding here in the u-s -- so anyone concerned about adding more under this mind. that is something many lawmakers are worried about. iowa senator joni ernst says "these detainees are some of the world's most dangerous terrorists and the facility houses many responsible fofo planning the attacks on 9-11. regardless, the obama administration wants to bring these terrorists to a facility

he's been a lightning rod so far in his new job -- and that does not change -- as he hosts a town hall. university of iowa president bruce harreld was interrupted by protesters during the forum last night. some community members in the crowd were upset -- and tried to quiet them. the forum was set up to focus on several topics like student housing... but the spotlight turned to harreld -- who says -- despite the friction on campus -- he remains grounded. "i go home every night and hug wake up the next morning and say let's go handsome it's a new values? and yeah i know who i am and a lot of the people trying to say who i am many of them i've never met." at one point, a protester claims harreld insulted someone in the crowd. harreld defended himself saying he was insulted by signs he saw at the

powerful storms roll through the south last night -- and more could be on the way today. three people were killed in louisiana and mississippi. this tornado was caught on tape in louisiana. right now, a glass of water is a challenge in one louisiana city. storms knocked the town's water service off-line in assumption parish. that's west of new orleans. high winds also took down trees wheeler overturned. this also happened in louisiana. so much damage in that state this morning because of severe weather. the moment storms cut the power in an alabama town was caught on camera. you can see in this video -- as the rain comes down. the lghts flicker... and then go out for good. and in florida -- more severe weather. utility poles were brought down and cars were flipped. crews will be out taking a look at the damage all over the south

country today. continuing coverage this morning: testimony continues today in the murder trial of an iowa man. alexander fazzino is charged with murder in the death of his wife, emily. her body was food in their homom in boone in 2012. her grandfather founded the fareway grocery chain. thth case was moved to winneshiek county because of pre-trial publicity. both sides agree that emily fazzino did have a previous addiction to prescription drugs. but prosecutors say they'll try to show she was on the path to recovery. they'll also try to show she was planning to leave her husband -- mainly after police were called to their home just a week before everything settled and the police had left, emily, who was wanted to get away." on the other hand -- the defense plans

they claim she had a history of fainting from withdrawl symptoms -- which they believe led to her accidental drowning. a landmark ruling against a huge company. johnson and johnson is being ordered to pay 72 million dollars to the family of a woman who died from ovarian cancer. a jury linked the cancer to her use of for her, but for so many other women. and that's why i continue that's why i continue this fight." the verdict came down in missouri. johnson and johnson faces several hundred lawsuits claiming that -- in an efforr to booo sales -- it failed to warn customers that its talc-based products could cause cancer. a company spokeswoman says -- they firmly believe the safety of its products is supported by decades of scientific evidence. later tooay, several leaders from a polygamous sect will be in court -- facing charges of food

several leaders of warren jeff's group in utah were arrested. they're accused of telling members how to use food stamp benefits illegally. among those arrested -- two of warren jeffs' brothers. he's serving life in prison for sexually assault. in the iowa legislature... some gun laws another step closerro changing. the house voted in favor of five bills. one would allow children younger than 14 to use handguns as long as they're supervised by a parent. "what this bill does, the bill before us, again, allows for 1- year-olds, 2-year-olds, 3-year- olds, 4-year-olds to operate handguns. we do not need a militia of toddlers. however, supporters say the legislation strengthens the constitutional right to bear arms in iowa. it now moves on to the senate, where it's not expected to pass. this morning, another group of eastern iiwans will heaa to des

about medicaid. this week, the federal government gave the green light to iowa to move ahead with privatizing medicaid. but it won't happen as quickly as we thought. the plan was for iowa to make the transition on march first. the federal government says april first would give everyone more time. a 9-year-old phenom who packs qute a punch already has her eyes on the golden gloves. hazel sanchez shares her story. she may only be 9 years old but pound for pound jesselyn "i just like the sport. when my dad asks do you want to go to the gym l always say yes." jesselyn has been boxing since she was 7 years old pair of gloves... and once she did, her gift was undeniable. many kids dream of becoming astronauts, but apparently, even the final frontier gets boring from time to time -- or so it would seem -- judging from this video posted on twitter by astronaut mark kelly. we see someone in a gorilla suit bursting out of a bag on the international space station -- and terrorizing a crew member. no explanation is given -- just a tweet from kelly saying "i thought you said you had things under control up there." it's a reunion more than 70 yyars in the making in iowa. a man and his construction crew were renovating an old movie theater in nevada when they found a wallet. based on a pocket calendar inside -- they believe it had been buried in the floorboards since 19-44. the builder is a former investigator -- who played detective once again -- tracking down the owner who lives near des moines.
