that's right..but it goes beyond the criminal history here. neither fire safety inspectors nor the health department signed off for the bar's license.. and as trelka tells me..if you can't follow the rules, there's not lights are off- and many are wondering if it will stay that chief dan trelka says police recommended that.. continuing coverage - the fazzino's nanny and one of emily's close friends taking the stand this afternoon in the high profile trial of alex fazzino. fazzino is on trial for first degree murder charges... police say he killed his wife -- the granddaughter of the founder of fareway grocery stores -- emily fazzino, back in 2012 at their home in boone. kwwl's brad hanson in court today for us in decorah as a number of witnesses took the stand. but brad, none more emotional than the testimony of the family's nanny. that's right--cassie frye had known emily for about a year prior to her death, and the two because of emily's three children. frye testifying that she met emily at the daycare she worked at, where she had emily's youngest in her class. over the next year, frye said the two became incredibly close, and eventually, she started officially working for the family in a nanny capacity. in her testimony, frye said

growing more and more worried about the safety of herself and her children in the days leading up to her death. emily two questions. the first one was, was she scared of alex. that alex would harm her in anyway or he would kill her, if emily thought that he would harm her or kill her. what was emily's response? she nodded her head yes." during cross examination, frye admitted although they were very close, she didn't know about emily's addiction to prescription medication until emily was clean and told her about it. the defense also looked to show

week before her death when police were called to their home because of a dispute. both sides getting a little heated today--in fact, the judge warning both sides to be civil while objecting to lines of questioning. we've got you covered live here in decorah, brad hanson...kwwl news. testimony set to continue tomorrow morning at 8:30. the state saying they'll call emily's sister and brother in law, as well as her aunt, to the stand. a shooting turns deadly in a cedar rapids neighborhood. police learned two people were shot in the parking lot of the one of them is dead and the other was taken to the hospital. the killer is not in custody. kwwl's hillary maglin joines us live in cedar rapids with more details. police tell me joseph perkins junior of chicago was the man who died last night.

what caused that shooting -- but they don't believe it was random. people who live in the townhomes say they heard commotion outside followed by multiple rounds of gunshots. police responded shortly after. they found the two men on the ground with gunshot wounds. the one who was sent to the hospital was released today. his name is not being released. and their children. (roy beltz/cedar valley townhomes) "i was looking out the window and i heard some yelling, and i looked, and then i heard some gunshots, and i ducked down and then i heard some more." the investigation is ongoing and police are still looking for a suspect. they believe the killer may have gotten into a vehicle with other people after the shooting. police tell me the number of people in

shooting is still being investigated. we've got you covered live in cedar rapids... hillary maglin ...kwwl news. years old and the other victim is 21. about 40 eastern iowans spent the day in des moines voicing their concerns with the state's medicaid privatization. the group says, it's not surprised iowa got federal approval to move forward with the plan. but they're happy the transition to private care is delayed until april first. "however the delay we do see voices as advocates. said no it's not ready. we said it again and the federal governmetn listend to us, so we do see it as a victory." the group says their main goal is to talk to iowa lawmakers about the need for a state committee that focuses solely on medicaid. an iowa public high school is opening two gender-neutral

des moines roosevelt high school principal said today that two bathrooms no longer have symbols for males or females. instead, a sign hangs on the each is available for students staff members. (kevin biggs, principal, roosevelt high school) "we have a responsibility to make sure that as the adults in this building to make sure that our students feel included, feel safe. and i actually felt ashamed that we hadn't thought about this before." a spokesman for the des moines school district says the district strives to be "welcoming and accommodating to staff and students." in three weeks des moines will welcome more than 17 - thousand fans for the ncaa basketball tournament. one of the priorities of the iowa events center is catering who have been here before, they know that it hasnt been awesome in the past so hopefully they will be able to notice some of the upgrades" and those upgrades will be gradual. the arena already has wi - fi, but the number of fans expected for the
