-- following a dinner at jameson's. according to witnesses -- amy was in the cross walk. her husband -- john molseed -- is with amy right now at university of iowa hospitals and clinic. john says he is disappointed the driver was not cited. "this was not something that neighborhood i think it's very important drivers are held accountable in circumstances like this." john says amy is currently in the intenstive care unit in iowa city. at last check -- she is stable -- but brain swelling is expected to peak -- and then go down within the next 48 hours. an iowa driver is killed after being hit by a piece of debris. it happened in davenport off of i- 80. iowa state patrol say debris on the road went through the driver's windshield, causing them to crash their car. the driver's name hasn't been

under investigation. cedar rapids mayor ron corbett says the city risks never receiving money from the federal government for flood protection. federal money has always been a part of the city's plan...now the city is revamping some things. instead of starting from the north and working towards the south...the city will now focus state senators unanimously approve a bill to improve so-called peeping tom laws. it comes following a case in iowa city a few years ago where a landlord spied on female tenants through hidden peepholes. the bill removes some of the requirements which make these cases difficult to prosecute. it now heads to the state house. iowa lawmakers are investigating chid abuse allegations at a former boarding school. midwest academy in keokuk had no state oversight. it's been closed since officers raided the academy last month as part of a sex abuse investigation. now lawmakers are trying to figure out how the school for troubled teens was able to operate without the state keeping an eye on it.

deadly shooting in eastern iowa. in fact, cedar rapids police don't know exactly who they're looking for. a man from chicago was shot and killed tuesday night. it happened at the cedar valley townhouses on the city's southwest side. joseph perkins junior died. police say another man is in the hospital after being shot in the leg... valley townhomes) "there was a guy laying probably no more than 50 feet from our apartment." police believe the killer might have gotten into a car with other people after the shooting -- but that's about as much as they know right now. shootings in cedar rapids are up this year. this video comes from different investigations in the past two months. in january of 2014 -- there were three reports of shots fired. then 10 last january -- and 14 last month. some people we talked to say they're not that concerned about it... "i've heard the city being see, i don't feel unsafe in this city, i don't, when i step off campus i don't necessarily feel

to be clear- police consider a shots fired situation whenever shell casings are found or there's property damage, it's not always just when there is a victim. the city of des moines has to pay up following a car crash involving a police officer. this is what the victim's car looked like whe an officer t-boned it a few years ago. the officer ran a red light. he did not have his lights on and sirens running. the des moines register says a jury is awarding the people in the car nearly half a million it's turning into a supreme squabble on both sides. the president says he'll nominate someone to replace the late supreme court justice scalia. republicans say the nomination will be met with silence. tracie potts tells us -- a key iowan in the process -- will short, there will not be action of the judiciary committee that holds supreme court confirmation
