should iowa's youth be able to handle guns before the age of 14? that is the question state lawmakekes are debating right now. kwwl's jessica hartman looking into exactly what this bill would mean for iowa. the house has passed a bill that would allow children to handle specifically hand guns at any age while under parent supervision. it's no surprise legislation like this hahs been polorizing not only here in iowa - - but gaining national traction as well. in headline after headline-- guns and kids - -its an issue that strikes a nerve with many - - no matter which wanting to go to school, they can tuck a hand gun in a coat pocket and go right into the

continuing coverage -- victim's family members taking the stand today in the murder trial for a man accused of killing his wife. alexander fazzino is harged in the death of emily fazzino. emily's body was found in their home in boone in 2012. her grandfather founded the fareway stores grocery chain. emily's sister -- ammie -- speaking today, saying she didn't know anything about emily's addiction to prescription medication. she also didn't believe emily had one. ammie recalling the night she lost her sister... (ammidighton, emilils sister) "i kissssd her. whereewas alex fazzino whenever you saw emily's body? he was running downstairs." the defense arguing the kids were in the basement, where they were with ammie's husband jeff, who also testified today. an wa businessman found guilty of exporting fraudulent halal beef products overseas is

prison. a judge convicting 74-year- old william aossey junior -- the founder of midamar corp in cedar rapids. he was convicted of telling employees to falsly label packages so the company could export products that did not meet muslim-related religious standards in maylaysia and indonesia. aossey is also fined 60-ththusand dollarssor his part in the incident. you don't have to travel far to see what ideas thrived, survived, and even died in eastern iowa. while businesses --like john deere learned to adapt with the times -- others folded -- leaving behind vacant buildins -- foreclosed propertis -- and little hope for the community to rebound. kwwl's macleod hageman explains where we were -- and maybe most importantly -- where we are (nats... retro ommercial: hiithere, from the rath packing company out in waterloo, iowa. today, we've once booming business -- busts in the early to mid eighties. listeria outbreak. 18 people in total have not been infected by the bacteria across nine states -- including one death in michigan. the ohio plant stopped production of the salads last month after the outbreak was discovered. nobody from iowa has reported a sickness yet -- but the company urges people to check the c-d-c website for more information. u-s safety regulltors releasing the reason behind a recall of vehicles. toyota says a crash in 2011 that killed two people in the back seat led to the recall covering 2005 to 2014 rav fofors. the company says seat belts in the second row window seats can hit metal seat cushion frame in a severe crash... and if that happens, the belts could be cut and would nonorestrain passengers. check with your local toyotal dealer for recall information.

today the state of iowa's latest 4-time state wrestling championship is being honored by the dan gable national wrestling hall-of fame and museum. lisbon's'scarter happel will receive the bob steenlage wrestler of the year award. happel became the 25th 4-time state champion in iowa history --winning the 145 pound class one-a title on saturday...finshing his high school carrr an amazing 209 and 1. happel will receive his award on june 11th during the glen brand hall - of-fame ceremonies. thanks rick.
