(sot) "i think it's horrible." it's something no business expects to happen to them - broell can't believe a store they visit so often was burglarized. (sot. cg: martia broell/frequent shopper) "it really and truly is awful to steal from somebody that's of town." saint vincent's takes donations to assist low income families in the neighborhood. (sot. cg: hillary maglin) "police and store employees believe the thief came in during business hours, hid out in the attic and then burglarized the store once it closed for the night." police tell us there are no signs of forced entry. some employees think the theif could be a former volunteer who was familiar with the business. which only frustrates customers more. employees do say luckily it was a slow day when the safe was stolen -- and not much money was lost. we've got you covered live in waterloo... hillary maglin ...kwwl news. employees say this isn't the first time the store was burglarized -- and they're taking extra precautions before closing up shop each day. in continuing coverage... investigators are trying to find out why a man killed three co-workers and kinjured 14 others in a shooting. the governor of kansas calls the man who shot the attacker -- a kansas. (nats: investigators at scene) as investigators try to figure out why a worker at this three and injuring 14 thursday. they're also learning more about -how- the attack unfolded. governor sam brownback says the rapid response of police that saved lives. confronted ford and shot and killed him. sheriff's deputies served ford with an order to stay away from his girlfriend hours before the rampage. (s/ sheriff t. walton - harvey county kansas :42 - :49) "he didn't display anything that was outrageous. he was just upset that he was getting this order." then police say ford, armed with a rifle and a handgun. shot two people. apparently random victims. stole a car. and came to excel industries. (sot / no id) "and more people running and all of a sudden pop pop pop, i started running too. within moments, the shooting was over. and ford was dead. month. kwwl's shirley descorbeth is live in the studio with the details. shirley... membebes of crystal caaedral of faith southern baptist church in waterloo came out to support their church. they ate some delicious soul food...but it was really about honoring those before them. lots of good food cooking in the kitchen at crystal cathedral of faith. the church in waterloo is hosting its annual black history month dinner. on the menu -- mac and cheese, turkey, candied yams, also desserts.

a cedar rapids man is convicfirst degree murder... a jury finding james ernst the second guilty of killing this man... orintheo campbell junior... was shot and killed, after a fight in december of 2014. campbell was shot on december sixth at the prime mart near

in iowa, a first degree murder conviction comes with a life sentence... though his official sentencing date hasn't been set yet. cocotinuing coverage tonight of the trial of alexander fazzino. health issues keeping richard beckwith, father of emily fazzino and chairman of the board for fareway grocery stores, off the stand today. but an earlier testimony he'd given was read in court today--a local decorah lawyer taking the stand for beckwith. in his testimony, beckwith acknowledged he knew some about emily's addiction to prescription medication, but says he was largely kept out of the loop. he says emily was embarrassed to share those things with him..including a three day stretch when she detoxed at the beckwith's home. he describes what she was like beckwith, emily's father):13 "i walked into the bedroom and it frightened. cindy was holding her and cindy was trying to tell me to get out. emily was very, very embarrased by me seeing her that way." beckwith also testified that he thought emily was happier than she'd

she detoxed. he said that's when he started seeing a meanness in alex fazzino. two more iowa woman are test positive for the zika virus... the iowa department of public health rrleased their zika virus update today -- it says three women in the state are now testing positive... none of whom are pregnant, but they have all traveled to different areas in central america. the idph says the mosquitos which spread the disease aren't located in iowa. an important recall for parents now... evenflo is recalling 56 thousand of these comination booster seats... there's a concern that kids can access the seat's harness adjustor button and loosen it... the recall includes the three- in-one combination booster seats that were manufactured before january 29th. no injuries have been reported, but evenflo is sending a free remedy kit to registered owners. a woman may now have the ability to have a child because of a procedure the first of its kind --
