black hawk county sheriff's deputies were called to the officer's home on amber lane in 12-30. once they arrved -- they fououd a perss performing c-p-r on 45-year-old martin lawrence -- pictured here. kwwl's macleod hageman has been following this story -- and joins us live with the latest information. mac? it's important to point out that this wasn't an act of violence or negligence -- but simply an accident. regardless of the circumstances -- it doesn't make the situuation any easier to handle. take a look. after emily's death giving us a glimpse into what he saw the night she died. fazzino facing first degree murder charges for allegedly killing his wife... emily, who is the daughter of the chairman of the bbrd for fareway grocery stores. emily was found dead in their boone home in january 2012. brad hanson has our continuing coverage of this trial from decorah... alex fazzino's interview with an iowa d-c-i agent and a half long video giving us the year marriage was average, and that her addiction to prescription medication was putting sress on the marriaiae. he said he'd encouraged her to seek rehab, and that she had episodes where she would stagger and slur her speech. he also talked about the night of her death--he says he saw her in the tub, and pulled her out, but then didn't ow what to do.

"she was. she was dead. i mean, there was, becauss i i started screaming, like as soon as i saw her, i was like, help! help!" fazzino alleges he reached out to a number of family members to help, but he says they refused to acknowledge the problem. richard beckwith, emily's father, wasn't healthy enough to take the stand, but had his testimony read in court. he did acknowledge the addiction, but also said he as largely kept out of the loop because emily was embarrassed to tell him. we've got you covered in decorah, brad hanson, kwwl news. ammie dighton ( emily's sister, told jurors this week that she didn't believe emily ever had an addiction to prescription meddation.

-- from a local charity. police say the saint vincent depaul thrift store inwaterloo they say the thief may have been in the store before it closed for the night. kwwl's hillary maglin talked to employees and customers. hillary -- what did they tell you? e thrift store helps out low income families in waterloo -- and a lot of people proudly donate to the shop. which only makes them more frustrated about the situation. police and saint vincent employees agree -- this burglary didn't happen during business hours. but they say there was no sign of forced entry. they believe the thief came into the store during the ddy and then hiddin the attic until workers closed up shop. regular customers tell me hearing about a burglary at a (martia broell/frequent shopper) "it seems like such a sin. i just, i know theft is a

enough tooandle a weapon with thal force. a man is facing federal charges related tw an amber alert. 19-year-old kevin ramirez is accused of travelling to ottuma from florida -- to meet with a 13-year-old girl last october. an amber alert was issued after police found out the girl wasr missing. they say she was found the next day with ramirez in ggrgia. he is charged with enticement and intent to engage in sexual activity. a dubuque man is also facing felony charges involving a child. 23-yer-old matthew johnson is accused oosexually abusing a 15-year-old girl. police say they received a call last december from a man saying his daughter admitted to having sexual contact with johnson multiple times. the girl says the two mett through facebook. johnson says he knew the girl and they kissed one time -- but there was no sexual contact. continuing coverage -- three iowans now testing positive for the zika virus -- according to

iowa department of health. they say all three are woman -- all over the age of 40 -- and they've traveled outside of the couny. the virus is a strong disease that can lead t t birth defects. however -- none of the three women are pregnant. deere and company says it plans to lay off 100 manufacturing workers at two iowa factories. layoffs begin april first and include 80 workers in davenport and 20 in dubuque. both factories are part of the company's construction and forestry division. the company sys the layoff are due to the lack of demand for some of its products. area church cooks food for the soul in rememberance of black history month. kwwl's shirley descorbeth is live in the studio with more on the yummy details. members of crystal cathedral of faith southern baptist church in waterloo came out to support their church. although there was delicious soul food, it was really about honoring thosebefore them. there's good food cooking in the kitchen at crystal cattdral of faith sister alice, and everyone contributed, a lot of members

the church is hosting their annual black history soul food dinner. on the menu? mac and cheese, turkey, candied yams, and...don't forget the desserts. "i baked all the cakes, and pies and desserts." -- this 100 member church brings togehter the black community n the waterloo. that's why reverend willie campbell says it's important to honor black history month. "it basically goes back to the legacy of our foreffthers. which we know came over from slave ships, they worked hard, some of right to freedom." and reverend campbell says the church plays a vital role in remembering that legacy. "when luke walked in the room, joseph just ran up to him. um. the surging northern iowa panthers close out the regular season on the road tomorrow afternoon against the evansville purple aces. the panthers have won eight of their last nine games---including a 57-54 ctory over evansville three e weeks ago at the mcleod center. depending on what happens in evansville tomorrow the panthers will be either a fourth or a fifth see and will play southern illinois next friday afternoon at 2:30 in the missouri conference postseason tournament. norrern iowa whipped indiana state by 22 points on panther senior day wednesday night. now they will visit an
