police say he has autism -- and they're worried about him. call police if you can help track him down. right now, a man is in the hospital after a fire. area yesterday. firefighters say a man was working on his truck in his driveway -- when it suddenly caught fire. the fire spread to the man's overalls. firefighters say the man was severely burned -- and was airlifted to iowa city. cedar rapids police investigate a report of shots being fired. derek bailey was arrested. police say he fired the gun in the air behind hazzard county american saloon on second avenue "it's unfortunate this isolated incident happens, hopefully that's not the trend going forward." that's the president of rock bar which is down the street from hazzards. he says he believes downtown has become safer over the years -- and says he appreciates the heavy police presence they see. the man accused of killing his wife and a rookie police officer

pentagon. that's the latest twist in this tragic story out of virginia. hundreds of people came together guindon. she was sworn in on friday. a day later, she was shot and killed -- after being called to "she was exceedingly bright, obviously driven in what she was doing, and skilled in so many ways." two other officers were injured. the suspect could face the death penalty if he's convicted. family and friends remembere victim. a memorial service was held over the weekend for a 60-year-old woman. she was one of six people killed last weekend after a man went on a deadly shooting rampage in kalamazoo. the woman was a retired teacher. former students shared memories of her commitment to teaching in and out the classroom. now to another memorial -- this time for a shooting spree in kansas.

others injured by a gunman inside a business last week. several people spoke at the service talking about how the community can heal and move forward. new statistics from the f-b-i might surprise you. those numbers show violent crime is down across the country and two cities in iowa stand out. dubuque and ames rank as the top two cities in the u-s where crime has dropped the most. f-b-i numbers were analyzed from 2010 to 2014 -- in dubuque -- the five-year drop in violent crime is 58 percent. it's a 56-percent drop in ames. we've been pretty fortunate over the years to have a very low violent crime rate. and so, work on a lot of quality of life issues." - commander jason tuttle - ames police department violent crime includes murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault. again, the numbers don't include 2015.

right now, authorities are trying to find two inmates who escaped from a correctional center in iowa. it happened at the newton correctional release center in a routine count on saturday night. here are pictures of both. one man is serving 10 years on other -- charges. this is not what you want to hear during tax season. the i-r-s says the number of identity theft victims is much higher than it thought. last may, the i-r-s said crooks used a popular tool on their website to steal 104-thousand tax forms. in august, the agency said the number was even greater --330- thousand. now, it's even worse. the i-r-s says it's closer to 720- thousand. the agency plans to do more to warn taxpayers about it. it also took down the online tool thieves were using to steal personal information. the kitchen is closed for good a dubuque restaurant -- and

crust italian kitchen and bar announced earlier in the week it was closing saturday. but after running out of food friday night -- it shut down a unhappy -- esepcially those who could not redeem their unused gift cards. the owner tells kwwl -- things like this happen all the time in the restaurant business. third time was not the charm for the private space company space-x. it called off the launch of its falcon-nine rocket -- after two other cancellations in recent days. space-x says on its website the rocket is fine. but it's not saying why the launch was scrubbed again. the rocket carries a satellite that would bring internet and phone access to millions of people in asia. a family in need of a lift is getting one thanks to the love and support of firefighters. the family in oklahoma already lost their six- year-old son. now, his two- year-old brother is fighting the same form of cancer. kristin shanahan shows us how firefighters stepped in. since he was just 16 months, jase bollenbach has been
