now on today in iowa: if you need help -- you need to let someone know. that's the message from one eastern iowa county this morning -- getting a better look at the mess left behind by flooding. another mess volunteers did not see coming. some people who are not flood victims -- gaming the system. and some iowa cases are unsolved because there's too much work and not enough people to investigate. now, the federal government is i'm jerry gallagher. let's check on your weather now with storm track 7 meteorologist eileen loan.

also warning people all over eastern iowa to be careful when they go back to check on their home. fema wants people to keep an eye on possible health hazards. carbon monoxide poisoning is a concern. so is the threat of being electrocuted -- from stepping in water where live electric wires have fallen. plus -- they're telling people to make sure they keep cuts and scapes away from contaminated water -- so they don't get infected. in bremer county -- crews are getting a better look at the damage. they've been visiting they haven't been able to get in touch with every person affected by flooding. they're asking you to call the waverly shell rock united way so they can get information from you - which they need to pass along to iowa homeland security. all of that will if you need financial help -- they can get the ball rolling. a disaster can bring out the best in people. we've seen that all over eastern iowa this week.

out the worst in others. days after the river left the north cedar community underwater in cedar falls -- the living water church was filled with supplies. people bringing in donations and flood victims collecting what they need. however some of the people taking supplies -- haven't been flood "and that is one of the hardest parts about this, you can't gage. . .i would never tell full advantage it and taken $100 things when their home didn't get flooded." but again -- as we've shared -- there are many more stories of others who are really in need and people stepping up to help. waterloo police are investigating a crime at riverfront stadium during the flooding.

friday and tuesday morning. no arrests have been made. here are more pictures of flooding from the past week. these pictures are from the city of waterloo. the city -- for the most part -- was spared... but there is some flooding damage in the city -- as the river level drops in cedar rapids -- the evacuation area is shrinking. 25-hundred people can now go back to their homes and businesses in cedar rapids. about six- thousand were asked to leave a fa of hesco barriers in the city -- and the temporary floodwall is doing the job -- protecting many homes and businesses. we're now learning the city of iowa city shipped two containers to cedar rapids -- donating about a miles worth of barriers. waterloo and cedar falls also chipped in -- sending things to cedar rapids to help them get ready for the flood. continuing coverage this morning of a tragedy in cedar

accident. ireshia parks died on tuesday. she was shot along 15th street south-east. officers were in the area helping with flood patrol --so they were quickly able to take three suspects into custody. one man says he heard the gunshots. firecracker but it didn't sound like a, it sounded like a faint gunshot." police stopped an 18-year-old man and with the shooting. a 13-year-old faces charges of involuntary manslaughter.. this morning, a boy is in critical condition after being shot at a school in south carolina. a teacher and another student were also shot. dan scheneman tells us police believe a teenager shot and killed his father before firing more shots inside an elementary school. it was near the end of the school day

gunman was on townville elementary school grounds. "the shooter is going to be a white male all black coat with blond hair." the shooter, a teenager armed with a hann, the playground. an off duty fire fighter apprehended the shooter before he could enter the school. "he engaged the suspect and at that point took him down and law enforcement was quickly behind him." the entire incident over about 15 minutes after the initial call. authorities say two male students and one female teacher were hurt. one of the students injured critically. the other student and the teacher treated and released. " but we are so thankful for the who prevented further injuries." a short time after the school

"thank god it wasn't mine, but i shooter's motive. the school has canceled classes for the remainder of the week appears senseless. dan scheneman nbc news. investigators say the suspect called his grandparents, who went to his home and found the teen's father dead. police shoot and kill a man they night. it happened in philadelphia. police say the man first attacked his daughter -- then his eight-year-old son -- and a family friend. later, he went to another home before stabbing two more people - including a 70- year-old woman. at least two of the victims are in critical conditions. witnesses believe the man might have been high on drugs at the time. new details this morning in the case of two louisiana officers charged in the murder of a six-year old boy. prosecutors say as officers started

suspect in his car with his hands up. the man's son was shot five times. his father was wounded -- but suirvved. the officers ahare crged with second degree murder. two semis crash in eastern iowa -- leaving two people hurt. it happened on highway 21 south of dysart. both drivers are expected to be ok. someone reports being sexually assault at a university of iowa frat house. the frat has not been identified. the person repored the house with friends last weekend, but got separated and then was allegedly assaulted by someone they didn't know. this would be the first sexual assault reported on campus this semester. iowa is receiving money to test and track kits used to investigate sexual assaults. the department of justice handing out 33 million dollars. iowa's department of justice receiving one million -- after getting two million dollars in 2015. many of these cases have been

are so many untested kits. decision 2016 coverage: people close to donald trump say he won't wing it at the next debate. trump - who campaigned in council bluffs yesterday -- has been saying he won the debate against hillary clinton on monday night. but even some of those close to the campaign says it didn't go the way they hoped. they plan to spend more time preparing for the next debate. in council bluffs -- trump talked about what he believes is one of the biggest differences insiders, mostly fighting for herself. i am an outsider the next debate between trump and clinton is october 9th in st. louis. today -- clinton will be in des moines for an early voting event. that event begins at 12:30. the wells fargo c-e-o is about

last week, he testified before the senate banking committee. today, he's going before the house financial services committee. he's been under fire since wells fargo was fined almost 200-million dollars for opening fake accounts -- so employees could hit their sales goals. last week the c- e-o apologized to customers for the more than two- million fake accounts opened in their names. the u-s senate overrides the president's veto of the 9-11 bill. the bill allows families to sue saudi arabia for allegedly backing the terrorists on 9-11. the 9-11 commission found there's no evidence the saudi government gave money to al qaida. president obama didn't like the bill. he felt it could expose u-s service members and diplomats overseas. this is the first time congress has rejected a veto by president obama since he took office. congress also passes a bill to keep the government running through early december. this ended months of wrangling

it's been a year since another former hawkeye star died. the family of tyler sash says it's time to let the public have some of the things he cherished most. tyler was found dead in his home after an accidental prescription drug overdose. his family is holding an estate sale tomorrow in oskaloosa. hawkeye and new york giants memorabilia -- among the things being sold. 'he always wanted to pay it forward so i think its pretty awesome that everybody that comes will a saturday at tyler's home in oskaloosa -- on fox run drive. child care or college tuition. what costs more? a new report says it now costs more to put a child in daycare full-time than it does to pay for college. the study says the average costs of full-time daycare is about 96-hundred dollars a year. the

thousand dollars a year -- which is about the average household income -- daycare for one child would cover 18 percent of that income. here's an unusual fundraiser. ceo martin shkreli - known for raising drug prices sky high - wants to raise money for his friends 6-year old son who's fighting cancer. but this is where it gets strange. he says you can punch him in the face for a price. shkreli says he knows there are nt a woman from florida agreed to donate 50-thousand dollars -- which is being matched by him. concussions are up in soccer. way up over the last several years. a children's hospital in ohio says there are 15 times the number of head injuries in the game today -- compared to what we saw 25 years ago. part of it is -- the sport is more popular these days.
