iowa. this video taken over the community of cedar falls from the kwwl drone. good evening everyone, i'm ron steele. and i'm amanda goodman. thanks for joining us. here's more of that video over cedar falls tonight. after cresting over the weekend -- the cedar river is dropping in the left in place of the flood water. that focus -- also true down river in cedar rapids. hard in the flooding as we've been showing you this week. while this street took on water -- other nearby businesses narrowly avoided taking on major flooding damage. kwwl's kristin rogers--joining us live from the new- bo in cedar rapids--kristin? you'll see behind me a large wall of hesco barriers-- put up to keep flood waters from rushing into newbo--

and had significant water-- the majority of newbo--stayed dry. this week-- as flood waters--built up inside these newbo buisnesses---on one side of a hesco barrier wall-- something city manager jeff pomeranz says--they had no choice in. "the only way to have a chance of saving an entire area and entire neighborhood was to place those barriers where we did." keeping the majority of the newbo area dry-- like right here at expecting significant water- instead minimal water--nats is pumping out of their basement. "i thought we'd have 4 feet of water in here, i thought we'd be down for 6,8 months, we had just three weeks--he says the wall--gave them hope. "i actually had hope i was like do--he says--it's an answered prayer.

in gilbertville -- many homes and businesses tackling the flood cleanup. here a look at the flooding in town just a few day ago. cedar river milling - a feed business - one of those hard hit kwwl's elizabeth amanieh is live in gilbertville. elizabeth. ron -- and this is now the second time they've been hit. in 2008-they saw nearly double the amount of water they saw this year. but as you can imagine-still putting them out of business for for cedar river milling-the water has mostly gone down but the clean-up is door showing the two feet of water that flooded the store. "we couldn't even come in for fans running non-stop. the only items lining the walls-the ones just high enough to miss the water. but the feed-high and dry. "packaged up a lot of feed and

that and they took it to a dry spot." dwight soper remembers a very different scene a few days ago when he came to pick up some bird feed. "yeah, i would've had to have a boat. and i didn't have a boat. the road was flooded and i the rim. they're cleaning up-but not back to business as usual just yet. "we're a week behind now, so hard on me, because i'm just a small business. but luckily, she's had some help from some kind friends. "nonstop, the community, oh my gosh. they're over here every five minutes. what can i help you with? you know." and she says her employees have been working around the clock

we've got you covered, live in gilbertville, elizabeth amanieh...kwwl news. cedar river milling is a family owned business that's been there for nearly 20 years. still standing- surviving two floods. flooding conditions -- affecting farmers across the state at a very important time as many of you know. take a look at this video from twitter shot in forest city in northern iowa. this is a seed specialist and f harvest corn. still lots of water in his field -- and fields across eastern iowa tonight. the town of waverly is drying out after the cedar river floods parts of the town. most of the city protected by an inflatable dam. last week--the waverly cedar river dam was unrecognizable. storm track seven's taylor bailey back in waverly today.

was completely covered by the cedar river. though the cedar river was high--the inflatable dam did it's job. the city administrator says without the dam, the river would have taken over much of the main street like in 2008. st. pauls church sits across from the river and is no stranger to flooding of the cedar. the pastor says--the church was heavily flooded in 08, but not this year. "it certainly saved this area at the highest part the flooding here the water barely came onto the street in front of the the city administrator calling the dam and the dry run heroes. he says they saved hundreds of the cedar river has gone down substantially and the inflatable dam can now be seen. flooding like the town saw in 2008. we've got you covered, taylor

decision 20-16 coverage now -- with nearly 40 days left to decide the next president of the united states -- candidates are back in iowa to promote their campaign. one day after donald trump made an iowa appearance -- it was hillary clinton's turn today. kwwl's it's one of the first times we've heard from secretary clinton after monday night's debate -- and her message seems to continue -- promoting more jobs and a better economy. clinton addressed an eager des moines cro- discussing the importance of affordable child care and schooling for students. her main attack against donald trump seemed to be his tax returns -- jabbing the real estate mogul "he actually is proud of the well, if that tmakes him smart, what does that make everone else." clinton adds she plans to continue preparing for the upcoming debates -- saying she looks forward to the

damage reaching into the millions for one area business. v-t industries in the community of clarksville -- taking a big hit in the flooding. the door-making company took on about three feet of water last week as the shell rock river rose over its banks. owners believe it may cost one million dollars to fix all the damage caused by the flooding. today -- storm track seven's amanda gilbert got a tour insi clarksville's v-t industries is back in business.... good because of flood damge. times of crisis certainly call for support -- and between open shelters and making supplies available, there's been a strong showing of support from a number of volunteers and organizations in eastern iowa throughout the past week. the greater iowa red cross says it has served more than 94-hundred meals and snacks, and handed out more than 25- hundred relief items during the flooding of 20-16. flood victims. kwwl and the american red cross are sharing this information for you to help your friends and neighbors here in eastern iowa. here's what you need to do - text the word "redcross" - all one word" to 9-0-999. that money will be added to your phone bill. coming up in sports... the president and the first lady honor some special athletes at the white house and -- we hear from zach johnson on the eve of the ryder cup. we'll be right back.

it up tomorrow morning at hazeltine national golf club in chaska, minnesota in the 41st ryder cup... the site is just a short four and a half hour drive from the home of cedar rapids native zach johnson--- johnson has been watching the flooding in cedar rapids with obvious curisoity and was relieved to zach johnson is a ryder cup veteran and will be looking to help break europes' stranglehold on the event. the europeans have won six of the last seven ryder cups---including a dominating five point victory two years ago in scotland... the americans last victory was back in 2008 --that on u.s. soil in louisville, kentucky.... zach says there is nothing like

mayor quentin hart at the 18th annual mayor's fun run today. students from the waterloo community school district, cedar valley catholic schools and waterloo christian school getting in stride for the run. the route had to be revised because of park avenue remaining closed following flooding. ribbon run this saturday morning in cedar falls---but the new location is mudd advertising at 915 technology parkay on the prairie lakes trail...will start and finish there.
