meteorologist kyle kiel now for your first forecast. our weather is quieting down here across eastern iowa. of course, we had some rain early this morning, but satellite and radar shows the rain well off to our east. there may be a few patchy areas of drizzle possible around the dubuque and tri state area. otherwise, we will see some sunshine. of course the big weather story continues to be hurricane matthew. it is a major hurricane with winds right now at 120 miles per haiti, and then cuba late last night. as it moved over cuba, it weakened a bit, but now that it is over the warm waters of the caribbean, it's beginning to strengthen once again. there's also nicole that could interact with the storm. here's the latest track

preparing for a deadly storm to come their way. hurricane matthew currently in the caribbean -- the country of haiti hit hard by the 145 mile per hour winds and heavy rain. the storm has alreadyll least eleven people living on caribbean islands. kwwl's shirley descorbeth speaking with her uncle --who lives in haiti. he says rivers are overflowing, roofs are blown off homes, and people have lost thier livestock and land. people were asked to evacuate -- but not everyone did... to see...they always like to wait and see when something is gonna happen then they'll try to move, at that time usually it's too late for them to move, that's

after a fire. this morning a fire started in the boys bathroom at cunningham elementary in waterloo. fire crews say they are investigating whether or not the fire was accidental or on purpose. no one was hurt. class has resumed... a man now faces charges following a crash that sent three people to the hospital. it happened last month in dubuque. police say a semi hit an s-u-v --sending driver of the s-u-v -- david mcghee -- is now charged with not yielding. he's still recovering in the hospital. in another case -- we know one man is facing charges after shots are fired in dubuque. it happened on west eighth street near the intersection of hill street yesterday afternoon. a car got hit by a bullet. police arrested steven burrell of chicago on an outstanding warrant out of illinois. he now also faces a charge of

first - clowns luring children. now - people around the country are dressing up as clowns. here's a look at one here found in waterloo. waterloo police say they've received six separate reports of clown sightings across town in the late-overnight hours -- including one at a mcdonalds. two more reports in cedar falls --one on the uni campus. a student posting on social media after finding a mask. "i saw the mask on the ground, there." for police the concern is reports of clown hunters who are going after these clowns. in other parts of the country -- people now committing crimes while dressed as clowns. this is video from a convienience store robbery in ohio. one of the suspects wearing a clown mask. "with everything that's going on nationally with all the clown masks and everything it kind of got everybody's fears ramped up... just due to what has been

back home in iowa -- cedar falls police are urging those who see these clowns to stay away from them. accusations, interruptions. very common during tuesday's vice presidential debate. at one point -- the moderator said the people at home couldn't understand what tim kaine or mike pence was saying -- because they were interrupting each other so much. kaine pressured pence to defend his running mate -- donald trump. pence went after hillary clinton's record. administration, that's stating painful facts. that's not an endorsement of vladimir putin. that's an indictment of the weak and feckless leadership of hillary clinton and barack obama. this is a very challenging part of the world and we ought to have the commander-in-chief who is prepared and done it

that's what best buy is agreeing to pay for selling recalled products. the agreement is with the u-s consumer product safety commission. it settles charges that best buy sold and distributed sixteen recalled products from 20-10 to 20-15. federal law bans stores from selling recalled items. consumer alert-- craft and finger paints being recalled... because they may contain harmful bacteria. the recall involves 13 types of sargent art tempera and finger paints in different colors and sizes. if you have them -- stop using them -- and contact sargent art for a full refund. the paints were sold nationwide at hobby lobby, walmart and other stores. you may be able to start trusting reviews on amazon a bit more. the website is banning "incentivized" reviews... that's when you get free stuff for reviewing a product.
