tracking to our south.... a front is draped over us with 50s to the north and around 60 along and south of it... winds are light but becoming more southeasterly and will be picking up today. storms this morning will track out of the area and be replaced by more later today... especially toward the evening. but the bigger story is hurricane matthew... it is working through the bahamas right now and still aiming for the east coast of florida later today... and it is a big one... i'll have more on hurricane matthew and our share of wea with storm track 7 meteorologist eileen loan. good morning. we have a few showers and thunderstorms tracking to our south.... a front is draped over us with 50s to the north and around 60 along and south of it... winds are picking up today. storms this

this week -- millions of americans could be in the path of hurricane matthew. the bahamas are being hammered right now... and matthew will likely strengthen as it moves toward the u-s. the hurricane has killed more than 2 dozen people -- mostly in haiti. sarah rosario is in daytona beach with more on the there are evacuation orders in place all along the than a decade.. its path could wreck havoc to this area which is why many people aren't taking get out. (sot) "the smartest thing is matthew. in florida, this could be the biggest evacuation in state and we can not save you." people along the coast filling up their tanks....but some drivers say fuel is hard to the carolinas. in south carolina....both

larger than the state of texas. we'll continue to follow the hurricane's path -- and also take a look at how the storm could affect our weather here in eastern iowa. an iowa man is accused of murdering his parents. sean freese has been arrested. davenport police say they received a report of a shooting and found his parents' bodies inside their home. sean was arrested not long after -- and is now in the scott county jail. a seven-year-old girl walks into her ho a bodies. police in pennsylvania say the two overdosed on drugs. the mother's sister says she tried to get help for the young environment... "my sister wasn't the person she became when it came to drugs. she wasn't the person i knew. it was like the drugs had taken over and at first we didn't know it was heroin." "that's like the hardest thing because that's a 7-year-old. that's a 7-year-old that did

a young boy from texas is fighting for his life... after being set on fire. he has burns on more than 20 percent of his body. his mother says he was playing in a field with two other children... when one boy poured gas on him and another criminal charges against the people they think are responsible... "he needs justice. i men,a no kid deserves to go through anything he's going through. at all. period." a nearby shed caught fire as well. superheroes honor a six-year-old boy, who was shot and killed. people wore superhero costumes to jacob hall's funeral in south carolina. his mother says jacob loved superheroes. he died three days after he was shot while playing on the playground at his elementary school last week. a 14-year-old boy is charged with murder in the shooting. a flight is forced to evacuate minutes before taking off after

continuing our flood 20-16 coverage. cedar rapids now looking toward preventing any possible future flooding. here's what it looked like last week. the cedar river flooding parts of downtown --including the newbo area. most businesses and homes did avoid taking on heavy water --partly thanks to temporary barriers. the city meanwhile is still waiting for about 73-million dollars from the federal government. that money was approved back i 2008 --but never received. mayor ron corbett says he hopes they'll finally see some of "earlier this year flooding in all these natural disasters that have replaced cedar rapids because ours was eight years ago. this near-miss that we had is a way for us to elevate and get to the top of the list again." the plan includes 13-foot-tall

as some removable walls. the red cross giving an updated picture on relief efforts throughout the flooding. it says it provided shelter to more than 7-hundred eastern iowa families. more than 21- thousand meals and snacks were served to flood victims -- and more than 36- hundred relief items and clean up supplies have been given out so far. kwwl getting a sneak peak at a building heavily damaged in the 2008 floods. here's a look at the new university of iowa visual arts building. the 77-million dollar project replaces the old one. it opened the beginning of the semester and many students are already spending a lot of time there. a major road project is making progress. construction workers busy paving university avenue in cedar falls over the last two weeks --where the new roundabouts will be. they hope to have both sides of the road open by the end of november. one business owner says the construction is really affecting have commented that they drive by it every day, and they didn't

what we want to hear." leaders of the project say their get places. a new clinic is coming to -- sharing a building with a family video store already in business along franklin street. construction on the building is already underway to host the clinic -- a major renovation in downtown waterloo is coming along. owners of the new singlespeed beer next month. the 35 thousand square feet location is nearing the end of construction. singlespeed will have their own -- but for many -- the beer is the most exciting part. "currently in cedar falls, we production over here is to go to 4,000 and this room is built to hopefully get us to 12 to 14 thousand by 2020, we have to make sure the demand is here for that."
