opened a casino in new jersey -- calling it the eighth wonder of the world. this morning -- it will close. the casino could not reach a deal with union workers who are striking over health care and pension benefits. about three thousand workers are losing their jobs. continuing coverage this morning: shots are fired durnig a standoff over the weekend. no one was hurt -- and now one man faces serious charges. the buchanan county sheriff's o saturday night. investigators say dennis chamberlain was threatening a woman inside the home with a weapon. they say he then shot at law enforcement. a negotiator was brought in and after two hours --- chamberlain was arrested. chamberlain has now been charged with several crimes -- including attempted murder. this morning -- investigators -- and a family -- wonder if a t-v remote started a fire.

house in alburnett. her dad and another neighbor tried to get into the home. neighbors say the homeowner was gone for ten minutes before they called her with the news saying house is on fire and she was a mess when she got here she was really worried about her dog" they had two dogs, but only one survived. everyone else is o-k. investigators are looking into whether the fire was started by a rem fire destroys an historic apartment building in minneapolis. fire crews were there for hours battling the downtown fire. no word on any injuries or what caused the fire. a crash in linn county kills two people. it happened on saturday night in central city. craig demoss was driving one of the cars that crashed. authorities say his passenger died -- he survived. the second driver also passed away. the names of those who

this morning, the man accused of causing a deadly crash is in critical condition. that crash killed five teens in vermont. police say he was driving the wrong way on the interstate saturday night -- when he crashed into another car -- which caught fire. police say he then jumped into an officer's car -- and took off -- smashing into several other cars along the way. "this is difficult not only for the personnel, but also the families that are going to have to deal with this after the fact." again -- the suspect is in critical condition, but his injuries are believed to be life- threatening. people are being told -- expect delays and crowds on the trains this morning in new york. thirty-three people were injured when a train derailed on side-swiped another. "it appears that the work train was violating the space of the

clearance area of that train -- and that's what caused the sideswipe and that's what caused the derailment." they hope to get some service up and running again this morning -- but are urging people to think about finding another way to get to work. a gunman has been killed after two others were killed and five more wounded after the suspect started shooting at people. israel has been beefing up security -- warning about the potential for violence. police in germany raid an apartment as they hunt for a syrian refugee accused of planning a bomb attack. officers found explosives in another apartment -- but have not been able to track down the suspect. hurricane matthew may be

flooded cities are now hoping to dry out -- but those downstream could be in trouble. 19 people died in four states because of matthew. more than two million homes and businesses lost power. hundreds of peope were rescued over the weekend -- here's one of those stories. crews from new york saved three people stranded in raging flood waters in north carolina. a driver tried to go over a flooded road during the storm. -- crews from new york jumped into action --- pulling them out. everyone is ok. man's best friend is also ok this morning -- after being rescued in the high water. the coast guard spotted a dog swimming in flood waters. a rescue worker standing on the roof of a flooded home tried to get the dog's attention. a coast guard chopper then lowered

although the camera loses sight of the dog, the dog eventually climbs onto a tree before being rescued. there's a lot of damage in north carolina because of matthew. a large tree fell on this home yesterday. the force of it knocked two people to the ground and sent neighbors "the neighbor was like are you supposed to do? and then the police and the fire department came and they tried to get me out of the house and i was trying to grab stuff that way want to lose it." in the same area, part of a tree fell on a parked car... thankfully -- no one was hurt. about one hundred people forced out of their homes -- had to evacuate again -- this time from a hotel. the hotel manager called for
