a small gesture goes a long way for an eastern iowa family -- after a priceless item is stolen during a recent disaster. good evening, i'm ron steele. amanda has the night off. it is still a time of recovery for many throughout eastern iowa following a historic bout with flooding in the area. in cedar rapids -- 2008 levels of damage were fortunately many city workers and volunteers -- but the cedar river still managed to crest at its second-highest level. here's kwwl drone video of the swollen river. today -- people in the city are still trying to recover from the flood water's effects -- including trying to get life back on track. melissa bishop and her 6-year-old daughter alaina were victims of theft during the floods of 20-16

possible thursday morning. the wind diminishes wednesday evening under a clear sky. temperatures thursday morning are forecast to fall to the low and mid 30s. a man now faces attempted murder charges -- following a case of shots fired in eastern iowa. 21-year-old steven burrell -- of chicago -- is charged after police say he fired a gun in dubuque last week. police also say an investigation into the matter showed a different man aimed a handgun at burrell -- but the gun jammed. they say the two men were meeting at a home on eighth street when burrell then fired his weapon. nobody was hurt in the shooting. a semi trailer rolls over --

the accident happening yesterday just after 4 p-m -- the semi was the only vehicle involved. allamakee county police sa the semi was traveling northbound on state highway 51 when it crossed the centerline and entered a roadside ditch. a 55-year-old waukon man and 38-year-old postville man were both taken to the hospital after the crash. in continuing coverage -- a televisi house. in that fire, a family loses one of their dogs. kwwl's taylor bailey just returning from albernett..she joins us in waterloo with the though homeowners and neighbors tell me firefighters say the house fire could have sparked from a t-v remote. investigation. a couch split in two...half in the house...half outside--burnt by a fire. says the cause is still unknown saying it started on the couch.
