mobile home community. people shooting sunday night, in the small community of freeport...making everyone run for their lives... including 10-year old nyeli delagarza. "i couldn't breath because i was running so fast, i was scared gunshots. the cause of the commotion happening near this mobile home. neighbors scrambling to bring kids indoors, then running in between homes...to find out who was hurt. "and that's when i found sarah..." once authorities arrived -- they find the bodies of 41-year-old sarah szabo and 55-year old craig freilinger (fry-ling-er) the two were previously a couple...but recently separated. "investigators here all through the night processing the scene. some bullets even went through other homes." and now those final moments of sarah's life...fresh in people's minds.

found in the garage. kwwl's lauren moss looking into this today- she joins us now live in waterloo lauren.. neighbors say they were using it for electicirty...after recent flooding knocked it out. it's a very sad story..the two did not own this house- in fact neighbors say they were helping out. the home was recently damaged from flooding forcing the owner out, you can see appliances like driveway. neighbors say someone recently broke in - so the two were there watching over the home. police say the generator was in the garage at the time of their deaths- and it is possible...the garage emissions with that exhaust fumes contain carbon monoxide and in that case there was a lot probably pumped into the house and the folks didnt even know it. and with that, it's possible

go, about a mile away, is also held up. kwwl's kristin rogers joins us live from one of those convenience stores--kristin? armed robberies are not new to this community-- in fact--we know of eight of them in iowa city--so far this year. police are not ruling out--some of them could be related-- but that arrest has yet to be made. around three-twenty a man is accused of robbing this iowa city kum-and-go--with a kum-and-go is robbed-- "the kum-and-go robberies each other and within ten minutes, a striking coincidence police say one of the two--was described similarly to the robber at the first kum-and-go. armed robberies--nothing new to iowa shows a robber coming into acapulco mexican bakery-- where the owners say--he made away with thousands shows first american bank on highway one-- being robbed at gunpoint--by a man in all black

riverside drive--also in all black-- and in august--this video shows a man in dark clothing with a gun--ordering mcdonalds employees on mormon trek boulevard to hand over money. each time--robbers have been men --in all black or dark clothing-- each of these crimes--still unsolved. a one-thousand dollar reward for any information leading to an arrest in any of these robberies. again--they are not ruling out the possibility some of them could be related.

news. there have also been armed robberies in nearby coralville in the last year-- a university of iowa student is taken into custody -- after police say his text message triggered a false campus shooting scare. 18-year-old harrison tsimouris was arrested this weekend after he admitted sending a text that he said was intended to be a prank. police say tsimouris texted a friend that active shooter here -- in burge hall on the u of i campus on saturday -- which then prompted the friend to report the incident with police. campus police quickly determined there was no threat -- and charged tsimouris with filing a false report to a public entity. coming up on kwwl -- an area man makes a timely escape -- as his house still smolders after a destructive overnight fire. and... here's a live look at the storm
