stabbing attack at an apartment complex. it happened yesterday in cedar falls. police say 28- year-old adam jacobsen stabbed two people multiple times. he's charged with two counts of attempted murder. tonight, we're learning police were called to the university avenue studios in cedar falls just hours before the stabbings... the victims are 62-year-old jeffery miller and 47-year- old denice bennett. they suffered serious and possibly life- threatening injuries. all three people involved live there ---but police believe the victims were randomly chosen. kwwl's lauren moss looking into this, she joins us now live in cedar falls with more lauren.. amanda, neighbors tell me police officers were called to check on jacobsen about 3 hours before the stabbings. police confirm that someone

comments- but when police arrived, he told them he was fine- he wasnt going to do anything. and with that- their hands were tied and police left. three hours later- jeff miller was stabbed. here's the scene. police say his injuries could be life threatening. denice bennett, the manager at the studios was then attacked. she's also in the hospital with serious injuries but police tell me they believe the two are stable tonight. as for the other residents- uneasy would be the best way to describe it. many telling me..they wo been next? im leaving november the 4th...i have to. i told james. see i have stints in my heart..and this is a little heavy. all of a sudden the reality is, they could kill any of us..for no reason at all. in april and may of this year, jacobsen allegedly posted several facebook messages mentioning killing and mental illness. this one saying "quote im craving murder."..again this

but still very alarming to many people. i spoke with cedar falls police captain mike hayes today about their first visit here and encounter with jacobsen yesterday.. ill have more on that in the we've got you covered, lauren moss kwwl news. jacobsen's bond has been set at one million dollars. police putting people on alert after an imposter tries to scam an area buses someone is calling claiming to work for alliant energy... threatening to shut off the power if a past due bill isn't paid. kwwl's shirley descorbeth is live from the telegraph herald newsroom in dubuque with more. shirley. i spoke with managers at an area business who recently got one of those suspicious phone calls.

the family business, smith home gallery here in dubuque was targeted by a scammer. on monday, someone by the name of jonathan charles called...claiming to work for alliant energy. he told them he was driving around in a truck... and if an outstanding bill wasn't paid immediately...their power would be shut off. "i thought, well i know we pay we would've had some kind of notice that we're about to get shut off...he kj words and didn't know what to say and then hung up on me." so they didn't reach of the point of discussing payment. tammy challenged the scammer asking him questions. and that scared him off. and as she mentioned she knew...alliant energy just doesn't cut off services like that. they will send a past due notice in the mail, before shutting off the power. we've got you covered live from the telegraph herald newsroom in

it's troubling. congressman blum actually co-sponsored a bill that could make it legal for a woman to be fired just for being pregnant. and blum tried to defund planned parenthood, even though women depend on it for critical care, like cancer screenings. i was diagnosed with breast cancer, and i know it was early detection that made a difference. it's not a political issue. it's about caring about all of our people here in this country.
