mother of a boy who was hit by a car -- and is in critical but stable condition tonight. the accident happened last night -- in the 700 block of west 11th street in waterloo. the boy crossed into the road to go to a friend's house. police say it appears the boy did not look both ways before crossing into the road. tonight -- seven- year-old hospital after being airflifted to iowa city last night. kwwl's lauren moss meeting with leighton's mother in iowa city today -- she's back at the scene tonight. a heartbreaking story for everyone involved. his mother and three year old sister..also outside at the time of the accident. his injuries are serious-

to sing and dance..play with his sister. but his strength goes far beyond his age. he suffered serious injures and head trauma after being hit by a pickup truck, trying to cross the street to go to a friend's house. his mother and three year old sister also outside behind him..he was just ahead of over there and he was on the ground..i picked him up picked him up and he was by and gave me their jackets.. mother to go through.

an area high school teacher -- accused of having a sexual relationship with one of her students -- wants her trial moved out of linn county. mary beth haglin wants a change of venue because of the publicity of her case. it's unclear when the court will rule on haglin's request. she's pleaded not guilty to a charge of sexual exploitation by a school employee. authorities say she had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old boy who went to washington hi begin november 14th. more decision 2016 coverage tonight -- with the presidential nominees sharing a stage for the final time. as the third and final presidential debate of the election season is coming up in less than two hours. g-o-p nominee donald trump will square off once again with democratic nominee hillary clinton at the university of

since the last debate 10-days ago -- several women have accused donald trump of sexual harrasment. wikileaks has released what it says are incriminating emails from hillary clinton. ahead of the debate -- more scrutiny for hillary clinton and the democratic party -- and a former iowan is involved. it's over this video released by a conservative activist. it shows a pro- clinton group talking about causing trouble at donald trump rallies. "if you're there and you're protesting and you do these actions, you will be attacked at trump rallies. that's what we want." that man, scott foval, is from iowa. he also discusses an incident at last year's iowa state fair. you remember the iowa state fair thing where scott walker grabbed the signout of the dude's hand and then the dude gets kind of roughed up right in

washington high schoolers in cedar rapids are also being encouraged to share their own experiences with gun violence with their peers. kwwl's kristin rogers has the story from cedar rapids tonight. strikes out melvin upton... cleveland got a couple of solo homers---carlos santan rips this marcos estrada cutter deep to right... to make it 2-0 indians. and in the fourth--- coco crisp pounds a longball to right---and cleveland is going to the world series after beating toronto 3-0. last night the chicago cubs suffered their second straight shutout loss to the los angeles dodgers---and fell behind 2 n-l-c-s series. the cubs entered the post season with the best hitting numbers in major league baseball.. the recent cold streak has cubs' manager joe maddon scratching his head. we're just not hitting the ball the same or the lack of it is the same. we're just not getting the results right now. there's just no excuse, we just have to obviously pick it up quickly." the cubs will get another chance tonight in game four....first
