in what's being called an ambush-style attack. this is a live picture of i-235 in des moines. north of i-235 -- both highway six and highway 28 are blocked right now. we believe that could be connected to the shooting investigations. this is what we know. who -- an n-b-c affiliate in des moines -- says an urbandale officer is dead. the station is also reporting a des moines officer was shot and killed. few details havee there could be a news conference shortly. we'll continue to stay on top of decision 2016 coverage: iowa starts and helps finish the race for the white house. nine months and a day after the iowa caucuses -- the campaigns are still focusing on iowa. it's a big battleground state. dana bash shows us what's at stake in the hawkeye state -- six days before the election.

republicans are working to turn iowa red. "we are ready for change and mr. trump brings that change." eric branstad, the son of iowa's longtime g-o-p governor, runs trump's operation here and says his appeal reaches beyond the g-o-p base. "i have gone to republican rallies my entire life. we are seeing new voters like we've never seen before." early voting has been underway for over a month. democrats usually win the early vote. this year, iowa g-o-p "it's at an all-time high." so far republicans are doing better than in 2012, but still lagging with 33-point-nine percent of the early vote compared to 43- point-two percent from democrats. to push the early vote, both candidates recently came to cedar rapids, iowa, just hours apart. "she is the candidate of yesterday." "we have come too far to let donald trump take us back." the challenge for

a high speed chase streamed live on facebook -- by the man police were trying to catch. an officer in tulsa went inside a coffee shop this week, but left her keys in the squad car. a man got in -- took off -- led police on a high- speed chase after 40 minutes, officers caught up with him. he had this parents' home. frightening moments right in the middle of traffic -- caught on tape. the video shows a little boy riding into traffic on his toy car. this happened in china. several cars drive around him before a police officer comes to his rescue. the officer says found the child's mother and took him home. a car crash turns into a river rescue.

that happened after she crashed her car. officers say she spent close to 45 minutes in water before a boat rescued her. video of the rescue shows her trying to fight off the good samaritans who jumped in the hospital to be treated for hypothermia. the federal government steps in to the help pay the bills after severe flooding in eastern iowa. the president signed off on a counties. allamakee, benton, black hawk, bremer, buchanan, butler, chickasaw, clayton, delaware, fayette, linn and winneshiek are all on the list. the money will be used to do emergency work and fix facilities damaged by the floods, "so it's going to save the taxpayers the dollars in terms of the sandbags, the streets, time, overtime, and the costs associated with those." the cedar falls mayor also says some money from state grants will
