and...as support for the officers and their families pours in, an officer who survived a shooting gives us his perspective on the tragedy. ""you're watching kwwl, we've got you covered. this is the news at ten." good evening everyone, i'm ron steele. and i'm amanda goodman. thanks for joining us. police are now learning more about the circumstances surrounding an early morning ambush style shooting... that man in custody the two men killed -- urbandale officer justin martin, and des moines sergeant anthony "tony" beminio they were both sitting in their patrol cars when they were murdered. one man is in custody---accused of--- killing both officers he is 46-year-old scott greene tonight, they're estimating the amount of rounds that were used in the shooting..saying

(s/ sergeant paul parizek / des moines police department :10) "from what i've been told so far there was absolutely nothing or save themselves once it started." flash (s/ ross mccarty / urbandale police chief :10) we can't tell youh owamny rounds he had taken through his vehicle, but pretty sure it's over 15 and under 30." police have not given a motive and say there is not anyone else was involved. they say greene was known to law enforcement. a somber scene earlier today... you can see a tarp over the car officer justin martin was is when he was killed in urbandale and one of those officers--tony bemino--made quite an impact right here in eastern iowa. he was a state champion wrestler and an all-state football player at iowa city west.

incident on his youtube account --complaining to officers that his constitutional rights were violated. he was charged with resisting arrest in 20-14 two days later he was accused of threatening to kill another man after a fight in a parking lot. this is video of scott greene being taken to the hospital earlier today greene was seen walking on a rual trail near redfield, just soputh and west of des moines and surrendered peacefully on a trail near redfield,. greene walked up to a d-n-r officer in rural dallas county and surrendered without incident. both urbandale and des moines are iowa communities devastated by the police killings, and in mourning over the loss. words can't begin to express or explain what happened, but, the outpouring of support--for these men in blue and their fellow officers has been nothing short of extrordinary..

along with seven assists and four rebounds per contest he is the leading returning player in the big 12 conference in scoring, assists, assist-to-turnover ratio and minutes played. the iowa state football team plays under the bright lights on thursday night. the cyclones play host to 12th ranked oklahoma tomorrow night at jack trice stadium. iowa state lost to kansas state 31-26 last week..... with a one and seven record and coach matt campbell says the focus of the program right now is to keep improving in every phase of the game. although the cyclones have been very close to turning the corner----campbell says they are not there yet. it's the type of growth we are on i thought we took a step back last week..some of the areas i saw a make strides we plateayed.. we have to do a beeter job of getting better..
