sergeant tony beminio had been with the des moines police department since 2005. officer justin martin just joined the urbandale department last year. scott greene is accused of killing both officers. the shootings happened within 20 minutes of each other early yesterday morning. police said the officers had no chance to defend themselves... "from what i've been told so far there was absolutely nothing "we had high expectations of his future and it's tragically been cut very short here." police in the des moines area are familiar with greene. he's been arrested multiple times on various charges. most recently, he was removed from a high school football game in urbandale after - apparently - showing a confederate flag during the national anthem. greene posting this video online --

also - he was charged with resisting arrest 2 years ago. two days later, he was accused of threatening to kill another man after a fight in a parking lot. the tragedy in des moines has impacted people all over eastern iowa.. cedar fall's third grade teacher kelly sullivan says when she woke up and heard the news... friend... an officer who usually works the night shift in des moines.... "and i heard back from him almost right away. i was just so sad. i was devastated." students made posters with blue lines on them to show thier support for the officers in des moines. sullivan talked to her students "they just got shot for no reason, and i don't know why he shot the police officers but it made me mad." " because it's still good to respect the policemen even if they aren't even in our city."

the third grade teacher snapped a photo of her students standing together with their posters/ she sent it to her friend in des moines. he responded by saying he loved it and it really touched him. if you would like to support the families of the officers -- you can do that. authorities -- however -- are warning the public to watch out for fake go-fund-me pages for the two officers. police say you can police officers credit union. a kwwl follow-up. police in cedar rapids say there is dashcam video showing the traffic stop which led to an officer-involved shooting early tuesday morning. the linn county attorney's office and d-c-i will review it as part of the investigation. an officer fired his gun at jerime mitchell and he's in critical condition in the hospital. police say after the shooting -- mitchell drove off -- and
