into a serene day after for fans of the chicago cubs -- both here in eastern iowa and throughout the world. after the cubs clinched their first world series title in over a century last night -- at least one celebration turned dangerous. take a look at this video out of iowa city after the big win last light pole in the far right of the video. euphoria turns to horror in a split second -- when the glass breaks and police say stabilization efforts were made and the man was taken to the university of iowa hospital--no word tonight on his condition. kwwl's kristin rogers --joins us live from iowa city --kristin? it's just tragic-- what started as a happy

man fell-- we spoke with multiple witnesses today-- many of them are still shaken up. cubs are world champions for the first time in more than a century-- while the team was celebrating in cleveland-- iowa "pretty crazy like everyone was cheering, everyone was like jumping on top of eachother, kinda hugging each other." this is the scene inside d.c.'s after the cubs sealed the deal many people--flooding the ped mal may have gone too far. watch as this man climbs you the rest of this video out of respect-- something breaks -- and the man takes a long fall--landing on the brick below-- a witness--who wished to be anonymous tells us what he saw-- "i didn't think anything of it people were kind of cheering him on because it was a part of the celebrations." a celebration that turned for the worst.

collin murhpy's roomate--telling him what he saw-- "a kid fell off and kind of hit his head, went head first and there just not in good condition." murphy--who was not personally there--says its hard not to be heartbroken for the man and his family--despite the cubs big win. he's in custody in the polk county jail tonight. the officers that lost their lives early yesterday morning are sergeant anthony beminio of the des moines police department -- and urbandale officer justin martin. the focus has shifted to support for the police departments at the center of the ambush -- with love pouring in from across the state to urbandale and des moines. the chief of one of the departments addressing the attacks during a news conference today. take a listen: "i won't try to reason or make sense of this, this is calculated murder, there's no if in every sense of the word, from the way it was carried out to the way it ended." police say they have found greene's car -- and an explosive-detection dog led them to the suspected gun used in the attacks. right here in eastern iowa--police departments are showing their support for their fallen brothers. kwwl's taylor bailey was in olwein today and is back in

the sudden death of two iowa police officers have not only shaken up urbandale des moines, but also departments here in eastern iowa. the olewein police department put this patrol car outside of their police station not for them--but for their brothers who were murdered. a thin blue line flag lays across the front window people visiting today--dropping off flowers and notes one reading--thank you for all that you do "i just don't understand life number one why would you want to take someone's life who is esentially protecting" alexis buhr couldn't help but stop and pay respect to both the fallen officers and the officers of oelwein. the oelwein police captain stresses the patrol car is not for their department.

sacrifces officers make nation wide. live in waterloo ... taylor bailey ... news seven kwwl. the oelwein police department will keep the patrol car out front of the station until the two officers are layed to rest. an eastern iowa man convicted of murdering his daughter -- will not get a new trial. 63-year-old robert stern was found guilty in the 20-15 death of his 27-year-old daughter during a dubuque trail that ended in trial. according to our coverage partners at the telegraph herald -- an iowa district court judge denied the motion for a new trial this morning. decision 20-16 time now -- with the clock ticking down. election day is coming up on tuesday -- and the campaigns are trying their best to secure the support of our battleground state.

currently serving senate district 32 -- and is a three-term state senator. craig johnson -- the newcomer in this race -- is a republican. three people are in custody after an alleged hold-up at a domino's pizza along riverside drive in iowa city. police say two people with guns entered the restaurant after two a-m this morning and demanded money -- even locking four people in the store into a cooler. no one was hurt. proximity to a convenience store -- which was also recently robbed. police say they've taken corey lindsey, keashaun hayes and martarious junious into custody in connection with the domino's robbery. all three are facing charges of kidnapping and robbery. coming up in sports... the iowa state cyclones prepare to kick it off in a few minutes against 14th ranked oklahoma....
