anything. billowing smoke making it difficult to see firefighters battle a fire -- taking over much of the cedar falls sky --worrying people in the area. "when you see that much smoke that close to home, you're gonna check it out" authorities confirm a city building used for storage caught fire morning. witnesses say they believe it's used to keep confiscated property. "you couldn't see much except "people in the area tell me they rushed to the scene because of pump may have caught fire or even the apartment buidlings down here in cedar falls." "my first thought was that is was viking pump right ajacent to these buildings

around 8-30. investigators believe it started in the kitchen -- saying there was extensive damage to the kitchen and living room. firefighters confirm there weren't any working smoke detectors in the home. fortunately -- two adults in the home were able to get out safely. the cause remains under investigation. new details following a deadly crash in cedar falls this weekend on highway 57. police say 38- year-old cynthia brooks of waterloo was killed -- passengers were hurt. two people in a second vehicle were also taken to the hospital. police say there's video of the crash from a nearby traffic camera -- but they're not releasing it til the investigation is done. at last check no charges have been filed. a water main break causes a massive sinkhole in downtown dubuque affecting people who live nearby. kwwl's shirley descorbeth joins us live in dubuque with more.

crews have been out here for several hours working to repair the water main break. they tell many people stopping by to see this big hole in the ground. it's on eleventh street between main and iowa streets. the busy neighborhood is filled with homes and businesses. i spoke walking passed on her way to heard this sound behind me and the se one is injured. however, city officals say some people nearby are affected by this water main break. two apartments in the same building have been told to boil their water before drinking it. news 7 kwwl.
