i'm at heartland vineyard church in cedar falls.... there's a lot of people out here voting right now... we're starting to see that lunchtime crowd show up. it's been a busy morning... when polls opened... i spoke with some of the first voters to show up here at the church... they agree this election has been a long time coming... many are happy today is finally "because it's america and that's what it's all about."

but there are also elections for congress, the state legislature, sheriff... a lot going on. one key race we're watching is iowa's first congressional district. first-term republican congressman rod blum faces democratic challenger monica vernon. iowa's second congressional district -- southeast iowa -- is currently represented by democrat dave loebsack. he's held the position since 2007. republ congressman. peters works as a doctor - and served our country for nine years in the u-s army medical corp. in house district four, the northwest portion of our state - longtime republican congressman steve king. democrat kim weaver is also on the ballot. another race on the ballot is for u-s senate. senator chuck grassley is seeking his seventh term. his opponent patty judge served as lieutenant governor. she also served in the iowa state senate

senator grassley is one of the longest serving senators in our country's history. he served in the iowa legislature and the u-s house of representatives before winning his senate seat in 1980. another down ballot election tonight features names that many iowans may not know. cady, hecht and appel. they are iowa surpreme court justices. as kwwl's jerry gallagher tells us, few people know who they are, because they don't campaign there's a lot of noise in an election season. but for three court justices are up for along with justices daryl hecht majority to remain on the bench. they're facing voters for the first time since a controversial ruling in 2009. that's when the court ruled unanimously to legalize gay marriage. after that, christian conservatives campaigned to get which marks the only time that's happened since iowa went to a retention the court should be above politics. "they're just fine, judiciary. we're very state bar association tries to inform voters about judges through a performance review. almost 15-hundred punctuality, courtroom decorum, timeliness of decisions, things

the new york hilton midtown. this is the first time both presidential candidates will be in new york city on election night since 1944. another big state to watch tonight is florida -- no surprise -- considering how important it's been in many other elections over the years. trump and clinton fought have results from some cities on the east coast! under new hampshire state law, communities with fewer than 100 voters can open polls at midnight andlo as everyone has voted. clinton won more votes in two cities -- but trump was the overwhelming favorite in the third -- taking a 32 to 25 vote lead overall. tracie potts has more for us this afternoon on decsion 20-16 around the nation. noon.. one of the best parts of what we do here in the test kitchen is to answer your questions on facebook and our website. and one that we recently got and were really intrigued by was, "what makes something 'deviled'?" well to be honest, i wasn't quite sure, so i

any dish that is finely chopped and mixed with a spicy condiment. for instance, these deviled eggs they're called "deviled" since the yolks are chopped and mixed with mustard. another big favorite are the deviled crab cakes that we're making today, and they go together like this. we started by saut?ing some green peppers, onions and celery until they're tender. while that cools, we mix together about a pound of imitation crab meat that's been flaked, some bread crumbs, a beaten egg, a bit of mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise and our veggies. now, we form this into about baking sheet. just make sure you don't pack them too tightly. ok, into the oven they go until they're golden ... that's it. let me tell you, these are great on their own, but to take them over the top, you might want to serve them on a bed of greens with some tartar or remoulade sauce - or both. all i know is no matter how you serve them, everyone will love them. so go online and get the recipe for our "deviled crab cakes," so you can make

noon.. i'm ally crutcher after so many days of campaigning, it all comes down to this. one day. your vote. and the candidates are voting, too. p hopeful donald trump casted his vote this morning. he arrived at a precinct on manhattan's east side. and voting alongside him, his wife melania and daughter ivanka. tonight, the trump family will be at the hilton hotel in manhattan --watching the election results come in. protests broke out right before trump voted. two topless women burst into that same polling station and began shouting.... "out of our polls trump." some poll workers took the ruckus in

have plenty of sunshine out there right now. we will keep that sunshine this afternoon with first congressional district -- a competitive one. on the ticket, freshman congressman rod blum - and his democratic opponent - monica vernon. our crew was able to ask him, how he feeling about everything. he tells us... he wants a second term in congress...says he wants to limits. as for his democratic challenger...monica vernon, she's a former cedar rapids councilwoman. she says she'll fight for working families. "and we can not have a country always will be in our middle class." "the fact that we have so many people voting is what we need, about, it's about being an
