have been in the home. last week, a homeless man was arrested for trespassing after a fire in an abandoned building. still no arrests following a deadly shooting in waterloo over the weekend. police say talasa wright was shot on friday night in waterloo. it happened at the intersection of linn street and gable. the young woman died. she was 19 years old. two cars were involved. police are asking for anyone with information to come forward. a man driving over a hill rams into a tractor and totals hiar this happened in fayette county. a man from denver was driving a tractor when it was hit from behind by a ford escape. the man driving the car was cited for driving with a suspended license. thankfully no one was injured. the crash is under investigation. an iowa police chief accused of discriminating against women -- resigns. the west des moines city manager asking police chief shaun ladue to resign. the city not confirming whether the request is related to the discrimination lawsuit.

a kwwl follow-up -- tougher penalties for those who commit violent acts against police. it's an idea some state lawmakers are pushing following the deaths of two central iowa police officers. linn county republican state representative ken rizer wants to expand already enhanced penalties. urbandale police chief ross mccarty says iowa should consider reinstating the death penalty for police. but the american civil liberties union believes killing an iowa officer sentence possible for first-degree murder - life in prison. police arrest a suspect in what authorities describe as an execution-style killing of a deputy in california. the sheriff saying deputy dennis wallace was shot at close range right after he called for backup. within seconds, he was murdered. he was executed the suspect now faces murder charges and the sheriff wants him

was wanted on a warrant for felony criminal activity. deputy wallace was a 20-year veteran of the police force. a same-sex couple in iowa became victims of vandalism after the election. the boone couple found their cars keyed from head- light to tail-light. the hastag "trump" scratched into their vehicles... "i don't know how we can look at #trump, i love trump and then behind cars -- and offering to provide the labor. the volunteers -- include trump supporters. some big decisions made for the president-elect's cabinet. donald trump taps reince priebus to fill what's considered one of the highest-ranking white house positions. he'll serve as gatekeeper between the oval office and the federal government's top management. the 44-year-old is a wisconsin native.

donors -- we're getting a better idea of their influence in this presidential election. this was the second presidential cycle since the supreme court allowed them to write eight-figure checks to political super pac's. even though much of g-o-p's big money went to donald trump's opponents in the primaries, he still beat them. in the end, trump beat clinton in the general election... even though he had to play catch-up with clinton in terms of fundraising. president elect donald trump is leaving his business network to his children. a trump organization process of transferring the management to donald junior, ivanka and eric as he prepares to take the oath of office. trump has a stake in more than that's more than any other president in history. emergency teams are using a helicopter to get a better look at the damage caused by an earthquake. the quake killed two people in new zealand. it also triggered landslides. and broke windows, damaged buildings, and knocked products from store shelves. but this one is far less damaging than an earthquake five years ago that

tonight -- the waterloo city council will consider adding a speed bump to idaho street near highland elementary. last month, parents started signing petitions -- asking the city to take action -- when a girl was hit by a driver while riding her bike near the school. she had to go to the hospital -- but was expected to make a full recovery. the list is down to four. the iowa board of regents has four finalists as they search for a released yet. final reviews will be helt this month -- and they'll go concerns over the state's minimum wage. last month governor branstad said he believes a statewide minimum wage would be best. republicans now have a majority in the state house and senate -- giving him a clear path to a uniform rate. but some worry the state won't raise the wage high enough -- and fear lawmakers will ban cities and counties from having their own minimum wages, like four counties have already done. still to come on kwwl

some bikers in new jersey were starstruck when they stopped to help a fellow biker on the side of the road. they say it was bruce springsteen and his motorcycle broke down. the group of bikers returning from a veterans day event pulled over to help. initially -- they didn't realize it was him til they saw his face. shortly after -- they gave him a ride to a restaurant where someone came to pick him up. but before he left, the rock star

a water main break in florida created a hole so large . . . it swallowed a car. deputies, road maintenance, and fire rescue were all called to the scene --but there was little they could do. the car eventually became totally swallowed by the hole. the driver said he didn't realize a water main had broken beneath him - he said he saw the puddle, but what was going on, it was too late... "all of the sudden, my front two bit. water started comi . . . it started leaning forward, so i jumped out the side and pretty much that was it. i walked over here to dryness, and continued to sink after that." workers eventually managed to pull the car out of the hole. still on the way how exercising can be the best perscription for staying

been 26 overdoses from similiar drugs in dubuque county. nine people died. we're also learning how prisons in a few states are experimenting with a medication to keep inmates off opioids after they get out. it's a one- thousand dollar injection. you can read all about it -- right on ourl cracking down on crimes and drugs -- police in chicago getting help from state and federal agencies over the weekend -- in an effort to break up gangs... all this is in an effort to let people know that we simply won't tolerate the violence that's going on in our city right now. with more than 600 homicides in chicago this year -- the city is on track to have its deadliest year in two decades. reults from the weekend's efforts are expected to be

about plans for a new community center. steeple square is the former saint mary's parish. after more than 100 years it closed its doors in 20-10. developers wanted to buy and demolish the building -- but it was saved by people who felt it bringing new life to part of dubuque that's been overlooked. "now this area here is gonna be converted into a vibrant community center, that will be various activites." some of those activites include weddings. the campus will also include a childcare center -- and its apartment building. organizers hope it will be done next year. still to come-- how one boy is doing a lot of giving this holiday season-- to keep people warm this holiday

that retailers are focusing on. your thanksgiving day menu may be set ...but how do you answer the question: to shop...or not? "do you plan to shop on thanksgiving day? no "no, absolutely not" "no!!!" obviously, that's not the answer some stores want to hear... target's become the latest of large retailers announcing they'll be open for business at least macy's...even best buy. "we will be open at 5pm on and reopen on black friday morning." they say it's for the millions of consumers who want to get a jump on christmas bargains.. ...but understand it's not for everyone. "i just think being home, relaxing and enjoying the family, that's what it's all about" it's not for every retailer either.
