alot of equipment to watch out for. and... a popular and iconic restaurant destroyed in a fire --now the ""you're watching kwwl, we've got you covered. this is the news at ten." good evening everyone, i'm amanda goodman and i'm ron steele. thanks for joining us tonight. a weekend shooting -- marking the third murder in waterloo this year. all three young victims just 21, 22, and 19--years old. friday night --- 19- year-old talsas wright was gunned down in a car near the corner of linn and gable. witnesses say they heard 8 shots. wright was rushed to iowa city hospitals -- she died from her

kwwl's jessica hartman --- talking with community leaders about the loss of not one, but three young people to gun violence this year. jessica? in 2014 --- one of waterloo's deadliest years on record only one of the six people murdered that year was under the age of 25. 2016 waterloo gun violence responsible for all three deaths --- all under the age of 25. crime scene tape --- investigatr to collect evidence --- knowing there is a family looking for talasa wright's family left wondering why she was gunned down in a car. only two weeks earlier --- darell lanier's family asking the same questions -- as they spent days by his hospital bed. an nearly 5 month to the day --- otavious browns parents grieving the loss of their son -- who was fatally shot in the chest in

"we look at a life that was full of hope, but that for that for the rest of us, hopefully it is a wake up call; an alarm so to speak. not only do today, affects what happens in the life of our young people tomorrow." hartman "it has been said nearly every time we have a tradegy like this, but it still rings true. the solution to this gun violence doesn't weigh solely on our police department, but on a community as a whole." think we will see a change. i spoke with chief trelka tonight -- he says they are getting lots of tips coming in on the two november murders. live in waterloo . . jessica hartman news 7 kwwl. earlier this year --- waterloo police arrest four in conneci are awaiting trail. continuing coverage -- many questions remain in an officer-involved shooting in cedar rapids. police say jerime mitchell began some sort of fight with officer lucas jones during a traffic stop earlier this month--that's when officer jones shot mitchell. friends say it's not like mitchell. some of them protesting and asking for dash cam footage to be released--like in this

weather soon --but there's still some farmers out on the roads to be cautious of. a couple of crashes involving farm equipment in the last week. this one coming last thursday in fayette county. an suv crashing into the back of a trailer. and another today on highway 20 near dyersville. hazmat crews forced to respond to an amonnia leaft into the back of a truck kwwl's brad hanson talking to one local farmer today about accidents like these. brad's live from the telegraph herald newsroom in dubuque with more. the harvest season is certainly winding down--in fact, 94 percent of the corn crop for grain is now harvested. but there are still a lot of farm equipment on the road--something

(bob hemesath, farmer) "as harvest is winding down, there's record corn crop, a record bean crop. guys are still trying to move things to the river, to the ethanol plant, or wherever may activity." in fayette county, the owner of this car lucky to walk away with no injuries after a collision with a tractor thursday night. and on monday in dubuque county, one person inje car hit the back of a truck hauling an anhydrous ammonia tank, causing a leak. "we're all in a hurry. we, as farmers, try to keep our need to be aware, need to give us room, and need to slow down. hemesath says he nearly was in an accident early monday--something he's constantly on the lookout for. "i'm always driving defensively.

destoryed in a fire. luigis's in oelwein catching fire saturday afternoon. the family says it started in a kitchen fryer. today--the owner, luigi and a few of his children stopping by what's left of the building. but as you can imagine, a tough goodbye after 57 years. "well, luigi's is my name basically, we are your babies but this is your br luigi says what he will miss most about the resturant is talking to people everyday. he's leaving it up to his children to decide if they will rebuild. the iowa dci is investigating a 'suspicious death' in the southern part of the state. police responding to a home in the 500 block of southeast second street in

53-year-old steven dabb's body was found by two others inside his home, which had recently been destroyed by a fire. autopsy results did not show any major trauma to his body. the exact cause of his death is pending toxicology results. an iowa man pleads guilty to two counts of felony sexual abuse charges. 39-year-old scott franzen, of st. lucas, facing the charges after an investigation in 2015. franzen could face up to 20 years in prison. county jail until his sentencing in six weeks. a man accused of driving while intoxicated with his four-year-old daughter in the car is now facing charges. 26-year-old dustin bronson, of prairie du chien, wisconsin arrested for possession of t-h-c and drug paraphernalia. according to our coverage partners at the telgraph herald he was
