tonight. snow has arrived in northwest iowa tonight -- with flakes coming down and sticking to trees and sidewalks across the sioux city area. that part of the state is under wind and winter weather advisories tonight -- with several students in area schools benefiting from their first snow days of the school year today. winter's arrival -- also posing threats in and around sioux city because of high winds. trees and tree limbs have come crashing down during the storm -- this one crushed a roof of a home, causing severe damage. the roof caved in and the siding of the house tore off. luckily -- no one was home at the time of impact. strong, gusty winds -- also an issue here in eastern iowa. gusts this afternoon swaying a crane as workers were in the platform of the crane. this happening in downtown waterloo. the temperature -- starting out

he's accused of a stabbing. 49-year-old bruce hanson is facing felony and misdemeanor charges connected to the alleged attack. he's from waterloo -- but the police say the stabbing happened along old stage road near the town of freeport -- in wineshiek county. officers responded to a disturbance call around eight-40 last night -- when they determined the stabbing assault occurred. an investigation into incident is still in progress tonight. with strong winds and dropping temperatures in the area -- it's iowa. but it's not all bad for business. kwwl's macleod hageman joins us live in waterloo. yesterday we talked about how the summer-like weather helps contractors -- today -- windier weather helping farmers. take a look... "one day i come into work with all my energy, yeah i'm gonna do situation, but it's nothing we can do." uncertainty about what's to come under trump's presidency. "deporting all these millions of people, again we need to remember all these people, they're active working, i'm one of the examples of people that but for picano-one thing is for sure-he has an overwhelming community of support. "i'm going to be in debt my whole life, with this people, they supporting me, and they supporting me and my fmaily." miguel's lawyer explained to me the reason for why he has to wait so long until his next hearing is because immigration courts are just that backlogged.

there now. shirley. that's right. i'm not complaining about there not being any snow out here. however, sundown mountain resort does need it to be much colder colder outside -- and that means snow as soon as tomorrow night, saturday and also on sunday." but that doesn't mean sundown mountain resort in dubuque will open just yet. "so although the temperture still not cold enough to open. it needs to be at least 28-degrees to make more snow." "to be able to put down a base cover all the slopes." last year -- because of warm temperatures the season was pushed back nearly one month. "we opened on december 20th last year, normally we like to open right after thanksgiving." this year...managers still can't say exactly when the winter fun will start here...but they're hopeful it'll be
